I am going to try this! I make chocolate chip cookies quite often for my family, but sometimes the up and down, back and forth of putting the next batch of cookies in the oven gets tiring depending on the day. A bar cookie is the perfect answer for that 😊. Plus, they just look delicious 😊.

Can this former pro baker offer another suggestion? I found that the evening,(Baking powder,and/or soda) mixes in more evenly if you add it separately from the flour, in the beginning with the fat. This looks really good. Bar cookies are nice, moister and so much less time-consuming than individual cookies.

@@HerCookbookShelf ​ Oh, I was not in any way picking on you, Michelle, as almost recipes say to do this. My mother was a great cook and a wonderful baker. She would sift the levening in with her flour and I wondered if it was the best way even at the time. I decided that when I baked, I would incorporate it in early, then I saw other bakers do it. I think it is easier to make sure that it is fully dispersed throughout the doughs and batters. It is always best to follow a recipe faithfully the first time, then we can make it our own later.

@@tonette6592 no worries. Yes I know that method too. I had grandparents who were cooks in a logging camp. Ridiculously good cooks/bakers. I just let Kevin do his thing. He loves to bake. I am staying out of his way. 😊. He does a great job considering what’s on his plate.

This is awesome! I just bought this book, used for under $10 at VV, because it has a picture of all cookies. I have yet to bake anything from it though. These bars look so good! I will have mark this recipe down to try out. Thanks for sharing it! Love your videos. But, not enjoying the music playing, its just too much for me while there is also talking and kitchen sounds going on.

Hi Ashley, I am happy to hear you got this book. It’s a great one. I hope you try the recipe. What a good deal you got on this book. 😊 I am sorry the music bothers you. It’s essential because we live in a very small apartment, noise travels, we are also right beside a very busy main road. Complaints would be coming about all the other noises. It’s hard to win in this situation. I do have the music on very low. 😔.

@@HerCookbookShelf we all live with background noise, and we're mostly used to it, except sirens i guess. i think people tend to think oh my place is so noisy and it really isn't any different from anyone else's place. I have to mute it and turn captions on is all. I like the content, some of the cookbooks I own as well, and it's Canadian. 👍
