Yes you can use straps and no chains. For sure. I sometimes do myself.

Why use chains instead of straps?

For the sake of the video and showing others different ways. You will see in my catalogue I’ve secured the same load with straps before. It’s a matter of preference. I will say if you are throwing chains I hope they are 5/16. If not, I’m throwing the straps if the load doesn’t warrant chains.
