Takeshi Sasaki 佐々木健志 just pulled off one of the best chokes of all-time. If you've seen a better kata-ha-jime, let me know. 0:00 match starts 0:18 LEFT arm, not RIGHT arm

Amazing! Great application and very good analyse of the execution of this technique. I had to remember when I saw similar kata ha jime really. Sasaki applied it was clearly as in kata...

He tapped, but the referee is atrocious. He was too slow and not moving around to see where the blue guys hands were to tap.
@amck724 ай бұрын
No the ref wasn`t bad. He was on the other side. The guy barely tapped and he went to sleep a split second after. It happened so fast.
@woodeokyi90534 ай бұрын
@amck72 did you see the ref? He wasn't in a position where he could see the tap. I know it's hard to blame him, but if you want to be a good ref, you need to be proactive and move to a position that's going to be beneficial for the judokas.

The referees are honestly so slow to react to these. You can tell from the body language immediately.

The ref also did not have the reaction time to catch the guy’s head. Terrible. Wasn’t even looking in the right direction.

Because to see what is actually happening you have to bent your knees and get close and they have been order not to do such thing

The ref is not allowed to put hands on the player. The opponent was the one that could have eased him to the mat.

Referee was asleep well before the blue guy.

You said that perfectly.

He went to sleep so fast even the ref didn`t know. The guy tapped on the other side and underneath so the ref could not see it.

is it true its against the rules for the ref to put his chest down on the mat, so judo refs are only allowed to stand up and are unable to look closely on the ground like wrestling and BJJ refs?

Correct and that is the stupidity of the referee comiunity

Sasaki should have been more careful releasing his opponent, he just dropped an unconscious guy unceremoniously to the mat. Amazing technique, though!
And these are A class referee? First Ref was in the wrong position, 13-14 sec. in, this guy was in trouble, 16 sec. TAPPING OUT, NOT A STRONG DISTINCTIVE TAP. Sasaki KNEW IT. POSITIONING as a REF. AT This CALIBER, BETTER BE ON YOUR GAME. QUICK IPPON.

I hate Judo refs. I know it is the rules, but it needs to be changed. It is a combat sport, you can't risk safety for appearance.

The way is head bounced off the floor though, yikes 😬
It was too dangerous to release a faint person without care. Look how the head of the person in blue hit tatami and bounced. It was too caress of the person in blue. A person who does not know how to release and resuscitate after Shime-Waza should not use the technique. To me it was disgraceful to watch this match.

I agree. There should be some care and respect for the opponents (in competition) and training partners. The head should NOT be dropped down like that, especially when the person is unconscious. It is not war. It is Budo, a lifepath. Budo can be used in war situations, but this is a competition .

@Eiyaku Kyohan -Unfortunately too many times the "uke" does not want to tap until it is too late, as seen here. It does take sometime for consciousness to be loss, more than 5 sec. Uke in this case new tori had a good waza applied, but continued the fight instead of tapping, and when he finally did it was less than obvious to the official.

@@calebacrutto9601 Agree, doesn't change the fact that Sasaki was careless releasing his opponent, knowing he was unconscious
