If you ask the child if he is choking and he nods his head YES, why do you even bother to ask him if he could speak? Just go to work immediately to get the object out! Time is crucial! Come on man!

My 3 year old son swallowed a coin, I immediately put him facing down on my lap and gave 3 4 big pats on his back, gravity did the rest. Those were the longest 10 seconds of my life. Every parent needs to learn these techniques. Time is crucial, don't rely on ambulance and get to work.

Worst fear any parent can have. I still have bad PTSD after watching my 17 month old choking and nearly didn’t make it. This is so important the only problem I have now is I freak out every time he’s eating and I hear a cough it’s definitely traumatized me for the rest of my life.

@sitdownbehumble86753 жыл бұрын
@@TheRandomINFJ Ouf... didn't think we were still living in the 50s! Oh well this is the internet after all. I have no idea what me being in a bikini has to do with being humble. Someone being happy with their body and wearing a bathing suit doesn't mean they think they're more important than others, nor does it mean they're inauthentic. It's like assuming that just because a girl wears a shorter top, it must mean she sleeps around. If someone doesn't buy my 'authenticity' solely based on the fact that I'm wearing a bathing suit, then that says more about them than it does about me. I can definitely see the Judging personality trait in your INFJ personality ;P (but not being rude!). Helping others is probably something you enjoy doing, which is great, but maybe your help does more harm than good sometimes. Just food for thought!

My 8 yr old son was choking in the car because one of those darned jolly ranchers and his dad pulled over, bent him over his leg and smacked his back. The jolly rancher flew out -thank God! So not exactly the heimlick but it got the job done. I wasn’t there at the time but I realized I wouldn’t know what to do in this situation so I’m here.
@SousChefSanji2 жыл бұрын
Happened to me too! I didn’t know the Heimlich maneuver when my child was choking while I was in the grocery store parking lot (luckily wasn’t driving) and I instinctively tilted her forward and started patting her back with some force and luckily she coughed it out. Traumatized me for sure.

My 3 year Granddaughter was running around in the garden under a sprinkler on a hot day eating bit of a peeled apple and started choking badly, she couldn't breathe so luckily we saw her face. My wife and son ran to her slapped her on the back a few times and put her upside down. @ChaoticGamer59673 жыл бұрын
You missed something😁.. In a real situation, sometimes they might be able to just cough out the foreign object that is stuck in there trachea. Which is why you would first ask them to try to cough it out. Because if you preform a Hymlic technique while there possibly able to cough out that object, it can become even more trapped in there airway which would cause them to lose consciousness😄

I’m surprised this training doesn’t suggest that you sweep the back of the child’s throat with you finger to remove any food/item that may be stuck before beginning the Heimlich maneuver. Two of my children have choked on food and both times I started with the maneuver and it didn’t help. But when we swept the back of their throats with our forefingers we were able to remove the food. Not saying parents shouldn’t try the Heimlich, but the throat swipe might be lifesaving as well.
@SandraSalazar Жыл бұрын
@shavonwhite6452 I’ve read that we shouldn’t stick our fingers down their throats/mouths b/c it could push in the item further down even more. Just wondering then what’s the best approach after all 🤔
