@@jkgardinerWe should always set future goals no matter how far out of reach they may feel, write it down. My advice would be to start by buying a clip-on microphone so the sound goes up in quality and clearness by a margine 😊

@ definitely, I have plans. I have some clip on mics but they don’t do well with movement of the gi, probably need higher quality ones. 👍🏼

@@jkgardinerI'm sure if you do a little research there's mics that can clip near your camera or near you to help with sound. I don't know much on the matter. thanks for the video it was a KZbin recommendation this morning and sparked some honing of the basics. Needed it! Osu

Nice comprehensive explanation sensei ,also I believe sensei Lefevre teaches hip first although this may only be in a kumite context to generate greater speed to arrive at your target first.

Kagawa teaches hip first for basic Kihon too, but I like practicing both versions!
Great, what a straight punch I use this for my kata. Also sometimes in sparring since I’m white belt but love martial arts.

Here comes a question of hitting the opponent with the knuckles of index- and middlefinger. What if the opponent is standing in Zenkutsu or Kokutsu Tachi and his belly and chestfront is looking half to the side? In that case, per example when his left foot and shoulder is closer to me than his right foot and shoulder I can not hit the opponent with the knuckles of the index and middlefinger of my RIGHT hand fist at first. The first knuckle-contact, to the side looking belly/chestfront, would be with the knuckles of my little- and ringfinger, just in case when I punch with the right hand fist into the middle solar plexus meridian. The same happens mirrored with my left fist when the opponent is standing in a stance with his right foot and shoulder closer to me. Is that kind of fist impact with ring-and littlefinger knuckles also ok?
@jkgardiner13 күн бұрын
If they are side on the target is different, you can only hit what is open to you, if you want to get into the solar plexus then a hook punch may be better from that position. I’ll always use the first two knuckles regardless of their position to me. Connecting with the bottom knuckles can result in a “boxer’s fracture”, something I have done and learned from.

@jkgardiner Thank you for that information, I will have an eye on how to hit only with index and middle knuckle 👍
