What about the pistol squat(especially the jumping variation)? Won’t it be better?
@jkgardiner19 сағат бұрын
@@JacobRashap not necessarily better, different, a Bulgarian split squat can be loaded much heavier and as a result the strength benefits are greater. Pistol squats are great for mobility, balance and strength to a lesser extent.

Thank you. This exercise also both stretches and relieves tension in the groin area the further the front foot is away from the chair. The stability starts with the foot. In order to stay balanced/stable/upright as we do this exercise, the more the muscles in the feet work/engage. With persistence, this strengthens the tendons and ligaments of this muscles linked to the ankles. The ankles strengthen and become more stable. This strength and stability follows on to knees, hips the spine, and neck. It is particularely good for people with flat feet. If you notice, people with flat feet are the least stable when kicking. If I may suggest Sensei, to aid your students with flat feet, aside from this exercise, get them to stand on one leg with raised knee to waist level raising their arms at shoulder height to maintain some balance. And stay in this position as long as they can. When it gets too easy, they can add closing their eyes as well. To master doing this with eyes closed is to master stability while kicking. I've been studying and practicing yoga therapy as well as mma. My feet although still seemingly flat are so strong that I can not be thrown with one leg take downs by average fighters. It was because of the exercise you've shown and the one I mentioned, plus lastly calf raises on steps using body weight. I think you are a great teacher. Although I don't practice Karate, if you ever have seminars in Turkey (when pigs grow wings 😉) to do with effective kicking and exercises, I'll be sure to attend!! OoSs!!

Love it, this channel and Van Roon's channel helped loads with my spinning kick issues. It clicked a while back when I threw what was initially intended to be a back kick and it morphed into a spinning hook kick. Is there anything important regarding where/how to position the feet? e.g. How far away from the bench/chair/...?
@jkgardinerКүн бұрын
@@juliesonnenblume find a position that is comfortable for you to be able to get a full range of motion. Not too narrow as that will make it hard to balance. The further forward the foot the more you will bring the glutes into the action, the more the knee goes over the toes the more quad enphasis.

Sir how's you push workout look like how many exercises and how many sets?
@aslantheguardian900822 сағат бұрын
There is 2 ways of doing this: 1- Go without weights and do this until failure (you cant do anymore). 2- Start withouth weights 12reps. Add weights 10reps. Increase weights 8reps. Number 1 will keep the focus on stability and cutting fat from the muscle. Number 2 can be used for working the Quads and Hamstrings for size increase.

Great tactic. Sometimes I use a fake roundhouse kick as a setup for the side kick and that works pretty well too! Mostly because people tend to move in after seeing what they thought was a missed roundhouse kick and just walk right into the side kick.
