First sangam happened in Kumari kandam (A) lemuria continent which connects india, Australia and Madagascar with land surface. Lord Shiva is the adhiyogi, the place where Shiva meditated is in thirikonamalai ( present srilanka) , a famous temple Shiva temple was there still. During lemuria continent there if only surface. Old tamil texts says "thennadudaya sivaney pottri" which means then + nadu + Udaya + Shivaney + pottri. ( Then - south, nadu - a place or country, udaya - belongs to, Shivaney - Lord Shiva, Pottri - Jai).

The Chola Empire wa one of the strongest empire of India. Dear Zuzana, you can google the maps of the Chola Empire to see how big it was. It was the first naval power of India, as it built the most powerful navy at that time, and conquered Sri Lanka, Andaman Nicobar islands, and other parts of south east Asia. Two of the most powerful emperor of the Chola dynasty were Raja Raja Chola and Rajendra Chola. There are many stories of their valour. I'm sharing one with you. Rajendra Chola once decided to built a huge temple. After the temple was constructed, the priests advised him to bring the holy water from where the Ganga river meets the ocean (which is in my home state Bengal). But the King of Bengal Mahipala refused to allow the Chola ambassadors to take the holy water. Hearing this, Rajendra Chola ordered his mighty army to invade Bengal and bring the holy water after defeating Mahipala. His army not only defeated Mahipala, but also conquered each and every kingdom between Bengal and Tamil Nadu who dared to stop the Chola Army. Such was the might of the Imperial Cholas.

Chola worshipped lord shiva and varahi( kala bhairavi). When ever they go for war definitely there will be the offerings and prayers for devi varahi. Everyone knows the power of varahi( kala bhairavi ) who guards kashi along with kala bahairav. Kala bhairavi and kala bhairav are the avatars of lord shiva and devi shakthi.

Har Har Mahadev, we the people of chola dynasty. Forever chola lives in our heart. Chola controlled complete South Asia, sea Bay of Bengal is called chola lake. Chola naval power is higher than bay of Bengal. Many Hindu ( especially lord Shiva) temples in South Asian countries are built by cholas.
