That is what happens if the housing market was super hot. And has crashed. Yup, a lot of fake value, a lot of sales, a lot of heated air in that system. Those houses were not the worth the price they were sold at. But hey, young guys need a house else nobody marries them. And don't forget all the single women who have their own house. And the Investment 2nd and 3rd appartments.

What's the mechanism whereby the situation of a whole bunch of property owners suddenly being underwater, and the bottom dropping out on rents, and then that leads to higher consumer prices? It seems like middle class people would have less discretionary money to spend, and so their pressure on consumer prices would be reduced. Poor people who negotiated lower rents would have more money, but enough to cause so much food price inflation? There were floods in rainy season, and typhoon damage, but those are a matter of degree, maybe slightly worse than normal, rather than new phenomena, weren't they? There some global inflation, due to the Russian war (that area was a breadbasket area), and ship rerouting due to shipping attacks near Yemen, and new realizations during the quarantine. Is it all of that, AND something else? If so... what else?
@t-pnaminami3808
@t-pnaminami3808 9 күн бұрын
@@GizzyDillespee Most middle class aren't rentiers, they are debtors paying off an apartment that has crashed in value. So the cost of living crisis is debt repayment, plus interest on debt, plus low wages and employment. The deflation + cost of living crisis happened because everyone there is broke and there's no demand. Luxury goods markets are already collapsing, rest will follow.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has stated that China's GDP is growing and is expected to surpass 130 trillion yuan ($17.7 trillion) in 2024. However, some have questioned the accuracy of China's official GDP numbers. Explanation GDP growth The CCP has stated that China's GDP is growing and is expected to surpass 130 trillion yuan ($17.7 trillion) in 2024. Skepticism Some have questioned the accuracy of China's official GDP numbers. Alternative metrics Some experts have used alternative metrics to get a better handle on China's economy. Li Keqiang Index The Li Keqiang Index is a proxy metric that uses electricity consumption, railway cargo volume, and bank lending to gauge the economy. Overstated growth Some argue that GDP growth has been overstated by 3 percentage points for each of the past three years. Related facts China is the world's second largest economy. China's real GDP per capita was estimated to be $22,100 in 2023.

so my friends kept talking about this book Vibrations of Manifestation by alex lane, and at first, i was like, “yeah, okay, another manifestation book.” but then i started noticing how much was changing for them-one finally got the opportunities they’d been waiting on, and another straight up started their own business. it’s not flashy or anything, but you can tell their whole vibe is different. it’s wild how something so subtle can feel so real. if you’re curious, maybe check it out-it’s not for everyone, but it hit different for them.

It'sd not that people won't spend, because we all like to spend, but that there is no direct path to currency with a closed-circulation system. It's actually difficult to say which method of government handouts/subsidies is worse. Direct handouts to citizens tends to increase inflation rapidly, but the increase is relatively contained given the limits on average consumer spending capacity; on the other hand, handouts/stimulus/subsidies to local governments and institutions (i.e. not individuals) tends not to increase inflation rapidly, but the limits on inflation increase tends to be limitless because government agencies are not limited in their spending capacity or authority.

I was wondering about that too. It seems to be about the beauty standards requiring them to use makeup. These social standards seem to have been around for thousands of years, at least for the wealthier people and special occasions. Nowadays, in addition to photo filters, there are also real-time video filters. Not unlike elsewhere in the world, but IMO, the facade is very strong with these people. Edit: To be fair; Many try to use more extreme filters for anonymity when criticizing the government etc..

I honestly believe each country should do a pilot program for ppl who make under a certain amount and give them a set minimum monthly amount to see how well it works. What is being referred to here is the velocity of money. Economists like it when the velocity is high i.e money changes hands fast. Unfortunately that only happens when people have confidence in their ability to earn more money. If they don't, they hang on to it for understandable reasons and put it under their mattress. Here in the US do we generally not have that problem too much. Our economy is mostly domestic. We are not dependent so much on exports like the Chinese.

The govt is silly by squeezing and more squeezing on the people just to have the govt inherit more cash. What is the point of their encouragements of spending money when employment is slumping, wages slashed by big margin, and mass layouts/closedown.

China boasts a rich cultural history spanning 5,000 years, yet throughout this time, the nation has struggled with widespread corruption. This issue is well-documented by neighboring countries and historical trade partners that have interacted with China or its various dynasties. Over the centuries, China has often relied on external help from Persians, Turks, and Malays to manage its affairs. Simply urging people to spend more is not a sound fiscal policy. There is no magic formula here. With 1.45 billion people being told that things will improve, it often ends up being the same old story; The leadership has a house in Paris and left with the stimulus package. You think it's cheap to payoff 3,000 representatives in the great hall...they all have to eat.

It's hard for anyone to find a job in so many different countries right now, as AI gets better, it will get worse. I wonder where this is all heading...

We know where it’s headed. It’s going to get very bad unless we democratize ownership of some of these new technologies

Online shopping is killing retail all over the world. lol.

Online shopping has not killed retail everywhere. The issue is that the west builds them as a solo place without support. Malls that are attached to transport (bus stations, train stations, etc.) are still popular in central Europe.

@@weirdo1060 The problem is that retail kills itself with bad service and bad customer treatment. A couple of days i was threatened with death by the assistant of the store manager who was on holiday, because i raised my voice in complaint. That was in a western city in Europe btw. With such behavior, people will order online what they can, to escape these situations.

I ordered 3 items from Amazon. When the parcel arrived home , there was just one time out of 3. Amazon didnt want to help. I had to request a chargeback from my bank. ...online shopping will not replace retails, because large e-commerce like Amazon cannot be trusted

@ Interesting. Maybe you did not order directly from Amazon but from the marketplace, and Amazon did not cover this fully? I never experienced this with Amazon. IN what city do you live? Country?

You don't need all that stuff in a Communistic nation. Each according to their own. 3:50 That city (don't know the name) is absolutely stunningly beautiful. It looks like old pre-communistic cultural China next to modern China. 4:42 Just print some money. It's easy and it doesn't bring the value down at all.

Western economists told China years ago that they needed to move to a consumer based economy instead of their export based economy. The Chinese ignored this advice and we are now seeing the results. China's meteoric rise is being followed by a meteoric fall.
