I thought about trading in my F150 a few years ago and when I saw the prices I said they are out of their minds. So instead of getting a new truck I took the perfectly fine 2007 model and sunk 7 thousand dollars on having the engine gone completely over , a new paint job and rhino liner. The truck looks better now than it did when I bought it. I'm good for another 10-15 years.

I love watching these videos! This guy is not wrong! I bought a 22 VW GLI last year and paid a tick over 34k. Yes it was used, but it only had 3,400 miles on it. I just saw the very same dealership I bought mine from selling a 24 GLI with 6k on it for 29k and some change. I took that as a sign that the dealership knows something is coming. The dealerships across the country know damn well they're in trouble with the inventory they have. High interest rates, high car prices, and pretty much high cost of everything is forcing people to keep what they have. I've recently seen a 14k markdown on some new vehicles at a GMC dealership. These high trims aren't selling! Dealerships are losing way more than a lot of people realize right now. It's going to get way worse as this year progresses, so stay tuned!

You should try going out of state. My state IN. is terrible for purchasing autos. I bought my new Forester from a Utah dealer and payed the $1,000 to ship it. My everyday driver is a 1993 Chevy 1/2 ton single cab. I bought it 3 years ago, no rust, v6 crank windows. I paid $7,500 with 86,000 miles. I pull up next to the $70,000 trucks and just smile. Single cabs are cheap because everybody wants useless quad cabs. It is still hard to find good ones.

The average wage earner cannot afford ANY brand new truck. It’s called greed. As long as enough buyers will keep paying the prices they continue to inflate them. About time people stop and start saying no to high payments. It’s sad though that long gone are the days when the average person (if they wanted) could afford a new truck. The games they play to get people in front of a sales rep is disgusting too, like saying $5-10k off of sticker price and when asked on their show floor they have an excuse for it only applying to one particular model and say they don’t have any that qualify. Gotta turn and walk away when any dealer plays games…and they will!

You have made a very insightful observation, which is the concept of “tool.” My truck, an ’08 F150 WT, is essentially a tool that enables me to earn a living. Despite its modest appearance and limited features, it has proven to be a valuable asset, enabling me to earn approximately $1.3 million over the past 17 years. While it may not be suitable for a family vehicle and has sustained some scars, it remains relatively reliable in transporting me to the job site. Therefore, I find it unnecessary to trade it. If a manufacturer were to produce a new reliable full-size long bed pickup truck priced at $30,000 or less, I would be willing to consider purchasing it for work purposes. If not, I will keep repairing the one I have and keep my money in the bank.

We have a 2012 F350 with the common poor but livable turning radius. We have a 2014 F450 with an insanely good turning radius. Both were in the 60k range, and both have leather seats and extra options. Very nice. We decided to get a new F450 to maximize tax savings, and we got a 2022 after Covid. It was significantly more expensive, so we downgraded the features to the bare minimum. The quality overall is trash. The turning radius is even worse than the 2012 F350.

So if you have perfect credit you can get into a truck for less than a $1,000 a month and won’t be too hard for gas but good luck if you don’t have good credit.

These manufacturers kinda forced Americans into these massive vehicles through marketing. It's become the "Soccer Mom' trophy vehicle. It is not uncommon to see a mom driving one of these massive vehicles down the street with no one else in the vehicle and the truck bed is so clean you can eat off it. They don't need these trucks. Instead they are just trying to keep up with the Jones's. The other demographic age group that drives these vehicles is retiree's who are living their childhood dream now that they have some money in their pocket. But their own bodies have quit years ago. Just look for yourself. The biggest, nicest tricked out trucks are driven by old geezers with "Handicap Parking Permits" hanging off the mirror and they keep their folding walkers in the cab. They won't dare put the walker in the bed because it might scratch the bed or they just won't be able to retrieve it and the truck makers have noticed. That is why they offer these modified tailgates that open up into stairs. But the average middle aged working man is completely priced out of these. The manufactures learned years ago that is doesn't matter what the vehicle costs. What matters is what the vehicle payment is each month. For almost the past 20 years interest rates were historically below average. Instead of the buyer benefiting this. The dealers just kept raising prices and now my friend the Party is OVER. That goes for everything that is purchased on credit in the U.S. including; Houses, Appliances, RV's, 2nd homes, boats and yes even worthless College Educations for most people. Colleges have been quietly closing across the country. A college education is only worth the job and salary it can provide. If there are no jobs then it is worthless. What kind of job can a 4 year college prepare you for with a $200,000 tuition for a Liberal Arts Degree or a 4 year degree in "Women's Studies"? I am afraid things are about to get a lot worse in this country and it is not because of the newly elected administration. Simply put, it's too late. The damage has been done. $36 Trillion in National Debt. We are are third world country now. Sure there will be stimulus checks coming, tax cuts coming and they will feel good for a while. But this will only add to the debt. As for tariffs on imported goods. NEWS FLASH: A country that has tariffs put on them do not pay the tariff, YOU DO, the consumer. And what became of Obamacare, free healthcare for everyone. Well now more people than ever go without any healthcare and those that do have healthcare pay a huge portion of their wages just to keep it. Finally and in closing. There is no way in hell the US Government aka The Taxpayer should dare give a bailout (Again) to the Auto Manufacturing Industry. They learned nothing from the last Bailout. But that won't stop them from trying. BTW: How does a CEO for Stellantis justify a $40 million Dollar Salary last year after almost destroying his business?
