Near the end of the 1990s and early 2000s, Malaysian were heavily exposed to J-dramas and J-Pop (personal favourite Beautiful Life with Takuya Kimura, the band L'Arc-en-Ciel and singer Kyoko Fukada). That's why many Malaysian have fond memories of Takuya Kimura. As for Maria Ozawa, she wasn't that famous until she came to Indonesia and people talked about her and she became like a meme.

My ex gf made me watch My Boss My Hero and Nodame Cantabile and since then I've been watching a lot of J dorama. But it's difficult to find dorama with english subtitles. I have to do a little bit of digging within the fan subbers scene. I enjoyed a lot of J dorama like Naoki Hanzawa, Le Grande Maison Tokyo, Natsuzora, Ama Chan and many many others😂

You guys appreciate Malaysian food so much it amazes me. Next time you order any food, do ask if the dish is spicy. Most restaurants in Malaysia are kind enough to accommodate request to have less or not spicy/kurang pedas. And some fried rice in mamak are quite plain. You can request to add sunny side up eggs or omelette as a side dish. 😊

I love j drama so much...in 2000 malaysian tv broadcast a lot of j drama, kimura takuya, yutaka Takenouchi, takashi sorimachi, nanako matshushima, most malaysian know this name at that time..my fav drama one litre of tears, i stll crying even i watched it today...i still remembered erica sawajiri character in this drama. Not only j drama i also fan of j pop, i love glay song i am in love, tsuki to naifu song, miraie, first love utada hikaru, i know ayumi hamasaki, and rabaibaru Were my favourite song.

I watched Jdorama and anime and listened to Japanese music a lot in the 2000s. Yamapi, Yutaka Kimura, Haruka Ayase, Maki Horikita, Ayumi Hamasaki, Keiko Kitagawa, Utada Hikaru, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Takashi Sorimachi, Yutaka Takenouchi, Shun Oguri, Toma Ikuta, Osamu Mukai, Tomoya Nagase, Sho Sakurai, Jun Matsumoto, Mr. Children, Orange Range, Greeeen, and B’z, are just a few names I can remember. There are some names I've already forgotten, but I can still recognize their faces. I have been to Japan twice and will go again in the future 😊

1. Loudness, Earthshaker are the best rock band from Japan even our legendary rock band, Search cover their song, Tokio from Earthshaker as Nombor. 2. During the 80s we used to watch Samurai (story about Miyamoto Mushashi), Lone wolf and a cub, and Akira Kurosawa's (old movies produced in 50s-60s)movies like 7 samurai, Yojimbo, etc. 3. Famous japanese drama tv in late 80s and became phenomenon in Malaysia was Oshin. 4. In early 90s, most Malaysian know (at least humming) the famous hit Ribaibaru (Revival) sung by Mayumi Itsuwa. 5. During mid to late 90s (Jpop was in peak before the emerging of Kpop), we love Japanese drama & movies. The favourite actors & actresses were Takeshi Sorimachi, Yutaka Takenouchi, Takuya Kimura, Nanako Matsushima, Norika Fujiwara. 6. Slamdunk, Dragon Ball, Spirited Away, Yuyu Hakusho, Ghost In The Shell, Akira, (long list of comics & anime are our favourite till today- including latest anime like Kimetsu No Yaiba, Tokyo Revengers, etc) Well surprising, most of japanese didn't know about Mayumi Itsuwa. Come on, guys!

The first Japanese drama I watched back in the 1980's was Sarutobi Sasuke, known in Malaysia as The Ninja. The main character name is Sasuke. Takuya Kimura was very famous at one point you could say he was number 1 especially when SMAP was still together. All his drama will be aired on TV. Then My Boss My Hero came along and everyone loves Tomoya Nagase because it was all fun. His recent drama Family on Netflix was fun too. Maria Ozawa aren't really famous, not really a household name. I mean those people knows her name but most probably have never seen any of her works, but it's a name that became famous for different reason. Had to do with some local politician blunder, who mistakenly mention Maria Ozawa's name and people wont stop bringing it up to the point no one even know the original reason why they heard of that name before.

I like 2 people. The late Takeuchi Yuko and Hirosue Ryoko. Hirosue Ryoko struck me with her acting on this drama called できちゃった結婚. I remembered watching Tsubaki shampoo advertisement i think in 2007/2008, they were all in that advertisement. So beautiful. But for an authentic and beautiful japanese beauty look, I would go for Matsushima Nanako. She's gorgeous.

My opinion, yuina kuroshima is one of the top pretty actress with natural beauty & classic beauty. I’ve a lot of reasons why i love Japan❤ some of the reasons is the anime is so gooodd! Music is also the same i like zard, backnumber, ikimonogakari, lisa, but for drama non anime can’t beat korea quality still i got some of my favorite actress like tao tsuchiya, hikari mitsushima 🌹 for the foods very little maybe im not really explore it yet. Strangely, back then Ayumi Hamasaki was very famous back then. Then like someone said here, until K wave arrived. Hikaru Utada keeps making songs, where some of her songs actually went worldwide ( She used to live in the US and probably now too) so people still remember her.
