Yeah. It's only really worth it if you're going up and down Japan a lot in a small amount of time. It usually isn't worth it depending on your itinerary as Shinkansen tickets can be cheaper depending on where you're going. I got burned in the past getting the pass when I didn't need it when I first went to Japan years ago and so I wanna avoid people making the same mistake. For anyone reading this, It's important to check out your itinerary online (Japan Guide has a calculator) to see if it will work out cheaper or not to get the pass.

Old comment but no it's not worth it unless you're going to lots of places and taking the Shinkansen in a short amount of time. (think Tokyo-Hiroshima-Sapporo and back etc). There is a calculator you can plug your itinerary in on Japan Guide to see the prices relative to buying the tickets individually.
