The outdoor tables need to be more resistant to the weather but they can still be decent tables to play on.

what is the real-terms difference in bounce between 12mm of hardwood Vs 18mm, Eg: shot across the table, 12 inches high? Given the price difference is usually at least double or triple the price, casual players need to understand whether it's worth it. Eg: if it's only a 1mm height difference on a 300mm high shot across the table then it means table tennis is far more accessible as for casual players it won't make a difference. Any hard data here?
@pingskills
@pingskills 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. I think for casual players it would not be worth spending the extra money. What you can try is visiting a table tennis club as they usually have very good tables and you will be able to see the difference for yourself.

Hi great video. Is aluminium tables are good enough for practice for a beginner like myself? I wanna put it in the garden and leave it there instead of setting it up and removing it every time i play. And I don’t have space indoor.
@pingskills
@pingskills 6 жыл бұрын
I've never played on an aluminium table before. It certainly would have a different effect on the ball compared to a wooden table. However having a table that you can play on regularly as a beginner is better than not having a table so if it gets you playing more often then it must be a good thing!

Indoor vs outdoor table comparison in terms of bounce and spin.
@pingskills
@pingskills 3 жыл бұрын

@LORDVADER357
@LORDVADER357 3 жыл бұрын
@@pingskills Yes. Probably the indoor will be better. At the local park here we play on outdoor donic sky 3 tables. They are not made from wood but from composite materials and stainless steel frame. When i chop the ball opponent cant return it. Second bounce of the ball is under an inch. Cant place racket under the ball. Too much dust, rain and other factors. So indoor table outdoor but if the weather permits.

@pingskills
@pingskills 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is fine. The main thing is that you have a table to play on, The thickness of the table is important though. If you play on a professional table you will notice that the ball bounces much higher! But for the moment just enjoy playing on your table :)

If you have the same rubber on both sides then the colour is not important. It's just a rule in table tennis that you must have one black and one red rubber. This is so you can tell the difference if an opponent is using different types of rubber on each side.

@Soper79
@Soper79 8 жыл бұрын
I looked up that table. It came up on walmart.com. Honestly if you were going to spend $150, I think you could find a higher quality table that's used. I know it wouldn't be hard where I live to find a slightly used, nice Stiga table for that price. But that table you're referencing looks to have pretty thin legs. If you're going to ever have to move the table or fold it up a lot, having something with thicker legs and larger caster wheels is nice. Plus we don't know how thick that table top is. Like Alios said. Shoot for a thicker top. Go for something 3/4 of an inch or higher. Preferably 1 inch. It MM terms that's 19.05 to 25.4. Good luck in your search.

Hi, I plan to buy a table tennis table (ITTF or relatively similar quality). The main issue is that I only have room in my garage. So, I’m wondering if I can store and play in my garage with an indoor table tennis table. What is the range of humidity and temperature it can sustain without issues? I’m heating my garage to 10 degrees during the winter and I don’t park any car inside. Is it enough? But with Quebec’s humid summer weeks, I’m upset about my table as there is no AC in my garage. I’ve heard about outdoor tables, but I’m concerned about how the ball will bounce compared to an indoor table. Please advice. I don’t want to invest ~1000-1300$ and be disappointed. I saw there is a promotion on the "Sponeta S 7-13 25mm Indoor Blue ITTF Approved Table" but I’m concerned about the issue I was mentioning and I'm wondering if this is a good model/brand.
@Sunnysky321
@Sunnysky321 2 жыл бұрын
I don't see the temperature as a problem. If you have humidity above 90% in summer for extended days/weeks, indoor tables may (or may not) have problems, depending on the quality. But if you are serious about table tennis, I would not buy an outdoor table. The bounce is different, and it will mess up your skills. You don't need to spend $1000 - $1300 for a decent table. For around half that price, you may be able to get a decent indoor table with => 19 mm top.

The thicker the more even bounce you will have. 8mm won't give you the best bounce but of course it's always a trade off between cost. If it gets you and your friends playing then that is fine. As Alois mentioned in the video a much thicker top is what gives the better bounce. You can also ask this question on the ask the coach section of the PingSkills website and we can get other people to also give some feedback.

How about the surface material? It may have an impact on the way the ball bounces off the table when it carries spin. For a while I only played with a recreational table and was very frustrated with my serves thinking they didn't have enough spin. Then I started playing at a club with a butterfly table and.. surprise!... the ball bounced the way it was supposed to.

The type of wood and the paint can make a big difference. Some cheaper tables use a compound wood which tends to be slower and grip the ball more. The harder surfaces like the Butterfly table you were playing on allow the ball to travel further and bounce higher. The quality of paint also makes a difference. I don't know much about paint technically but know that some is harder than others again effecting the bounce.

Hey mate, nice video? Are the outdoor table surfaces worthy? Would you have one at home? Or only indoor tables will do? I can have a table on a patio with a roof, garriage or sun room. It wouldn't get wet but it may get sun on it rarely. It would definately get some cold wind blowing on it or maybe a little humidity in summer occassionaly. I guess I'm asking whether these minor things mean I should only buy an outdoor table unless my indoor table is staying in the garriage or brough out on the undercover patio only for short periods.

Hey Shane, I wold tend to go for an indoor table. The outdoor tables tend to cost a lot more and the bounce isn't as good. If the table is out of the wet and direct sun that is the main thing... If you get a reasonable table for the price you were going to pay for an outdoor table you will get a much better table.

Hey pingskills it is maybe an easy question but how should I clean my table tennis table after storring it for a long time
@pingskills
@pingskills 7 жыл бұрын
If it's stored well you probably don't need to clean it. If you do just use a damp cloth with some water. Wipe it clean and make sure no water is left on the rubbers.

My advice would be to film yourself and then compare your stroke to the video of the forehand topspin.
