my problem over the years with the headsets was always: they are like a skilltree. you have 7 talents to choose from, and each talent has 10 points to max out, but you only have 30 points to spend on all the 7 trees. so there is no perfect build. but then there comes a headset, that can spend 34 in its trees, improves in one talent compared to others very much, yet is still mediocre at all the others, but its on a 400 buck premium because of that.

That E4 reminds me of the Lenovo Explorer, my first headset, it was inside out, wired to PC, very light and you could flip it up too. Very comfortable and it was 150€ on the black friday I bought it.

I recently pre-ordered the Beyond and I'm really looking forward to it. Was a toss-up between that, and the Aero, but I decided on the Beyond because of comfort (Index hurts my head, too heavy and bulky), and the built in mic (which is extremely good!). I've heard basically everyone rave about it and though it obviously has downsides, as every headset does, the benefits of the comfortability far outweighs it for most it seems.

Congrats on the sponsor!!! :3 I am holding out against hope (read: severe copium) that the Deckard has SLAM tracking, pancake lenses, wide FOV compared to the Quest 2 (my current headset) and is even half way to the size of a Bigscreen Beyond! I really dont want to get in to the Lighthouse ecosystem (in fact my partner has straight up said they don't want me to) because we rent together in shared accommodation with other people so very little space to ourselves and our bedroom is shared living space between the two of us and also my VR space which is honestly not ideal. I sleep pretty often in VRC because of having friends on the other side of the world so super late night movie sessions where I fall asleep (I am ahead of most of them in timezone) and then get a 'good morning sleepy head' are pretty common and that is why the Beyond would be my ideal headset apart from the FOV and it needing base stations (and then base station tracked controllers..). So size and comfort for sleep are another huge consideration for me but the lack of SLAM/inside out tracking is a huge killer for me. I really want to upgrade my headset. My Quest 2 has been amazing for the price. But being an almost daily VRC user with FBT and needing comfort.. I can see all the flaws with it for my use case and I have just... outgrown it as a VRC degen now and need something more to my needs but currently there isnt anything for me. I am super excited to see what comes out this year. Great video as usual!!

YOOOOOOOOO deckard is going to be insane. Idk if It can possibly manage to be the size of a Beyond but Valve is known to pull some crazy stuff. Deckard is pretty much confirmed right now to be standalone capable with internal tracking based on datamines, hopefully with the option for lighthouse but I can't find any confirmation on that. If you're a VRC sleeper, have you tried out OyasumiVR yet? It's a plugin that gives you a bunch of features in VRC (not violating EAC) to make sleeping more comfortable, give it a try! I will be this weekend! Quest 2 is still such a solid choice but I could see easily getting tired of it at this point. I do have a friend who uses a quest pro with Haritora, after modifying the settings for the Haritora, he has managed to get such accurate tracking that I couldn't tell it wasn't base stations. Worth looking into!

Varjo Aero is still extremely expensive considering the fact that you still need to buy about $1000 worth of base stations and controllers. So no, it didn't really get harder. Pico 5's specs have been leaked. If true and if the screens have some nice contrast this time around, this will probably end up being the main choice for PC VR in general.

I don't think Varjos target audience is people who are brand new to VR. The people buying them likely already have index controllers and base stations. If buying brand new, it would come out to around $1650 total for an Aero, 2 2.0 basestations, and a pair of index controllers. I am so excited for newest Picos! I cant wait to see what the Pico 5 Max or whatever the heck is!

I have the vive cosmos elite, and for 800$ for 2 stations, 2 controllers, and a headset with the flip up feature. For a first headset, its been great, only complaint is software, and there has been a few times where the cable has been fucky. If other companies are going to do flip up headsets, they are going to need to move the main headset connector to the strap, so when you flip it up, it doesn’t put strain on the connection of their 80$ cable to your 500$ vr headset.

Future video deep diving into the Aero and more specifically the lack of updates from the dev team inbound I can't tell if they don't push updates because they do a ton of testing or because they are lazy but at the end of the day we end up not getting and updates. Foveated rendering on VRChat and many other games also require a community patch that uses Pimax's libraries out of all things lmao There is a patch to fix the red shift/chromatic aberration that allows you to tweak a setting, it's been out for a while but Varjo just won't add it directly into Varjo Base so that you can just use a slider to fix the issue with red shift Just some really goofy things that maybe Varjo is getting too much slack for

Hey quick tip! if you don't want to deal with compression on a quest 2 or 3 or any wireless lineup, try getting yourself a cheap 5g router, pluf it into a spare ethernet port on your computer, and DON'T plug it into the internet through a mode, run it as a wireless access point, or WAP as I liek to call it :) and then connect to it's wifi on your headset, the headset wont have internet but hopefully if you did it right your PC still should, it gets rid of so much compression!

I really appreciate it! The next video I have planned is an honest opinion on the Aero. There's just a lot of things that I feel Varjo get's cut a lot of slack for, like how the head strap likes to rip out hair sometimes and now two people in my circle bought them new and they both had very different but very annoying issues setting them up. I'm always open to pointers and critiques. Imma keep the honesty coming! When DPVR originally sent me their request, I showed everyone in the VC their emails and promo material, I honestly though the thing was going to be a piece of hot Chinese garbage. Like I almost didn't even want to participate. But it was a pleasant surprise with how nice everything felt with it. There's a chance that they are going to be using a new form of compression, but I really don't like to venture into speculation in videos too much. Even if it doesn't use a better compression technique, the Quest 3 will be a great choice for the price. Those lenses are super nice.

I must be crazy, i have an original quest 2 from november of 2020, i havent touched a single thing on it. Yes it still has the pre recall faceplate thingy, used to be a bit irritating but i've used it for so long i think my skin oils have made it softer. The headband isnt the best and needs adjusment every now and then.. my lenses are a bit scratched because the glasses spacer isnt big enough, the battery lasts about 45 minutes now on a full charge (have to use a 10,000mah battery pack in my pocket to make it playable for extended periods of time..) and my left stick wants to send me to the moon every time it gets powered on. Best purchase ive ever made 10/10 product.

Next video will be specifically on the Aero and comparing it somewhat to the Beyond, everyone in the market with an AMD card can only go for the Beyond, and from what I've heard from people much smarter than me, there isn't much of a reason why Varjo can't add support for at least the newest generation of AMD cards that support AV1. Varjo get's too much slack on quite a lot of things. I'll have to confirm this 100% before the video goes out, but they have been 'working' on some software fixes for red shift and distortion for way too long without any of it actually making it into their native software. A bunch of people in my Discord got them as soon as the price dropped, 2 of them have received theirs and I've had to help them set them up because they keep running into weird software issues.

Compression compression compression, you say that but the Quest 2 is capable of indistinguishable-from-wired video quality when using Virtual Desktop and a decent Wi-Fi 6 router and it's still getting better. I run mine at 80Hz and 240Mb/s bitrate using a TP-Link WiFi 6 router with line-of-sight to my headset and don't notice compression artifacts or lag until I'm looking at a very noisy scene or moving my head too quickly respectively. Airlink sucks, full stop, wired isn't much better either and shouldn't be used to judge the Quest's true potential, lots of compression with either method especially if you're not using the correct recommended setup. For the ability to be untethered and do as many 360's as you want until you get dizzy and vomit it's well-worth it for that alone but you do have to be a bit tech-savvy. Quest 2 has surprised me and I look forward to being surprised further with Quest 3.

i've seen this so many times that it isn't worth replying to but sure, here's something If you need another router to get the most out of a headset due to the fact that meta neglects link its a massive L Quest 2 is great, love mine, Quest 3 is only an improvement, but again, if meta just put a little more effort into the Oculus Desktop software compression wouldn't be an issue.

I've only had the opportunity to try proper VR headsets (i.e. not holders for your phone) twice. The first time was in the early nineties when you could go to an arcade and play that VR shooter in which eventually a pterodactyl would swoop down and carry you off, and that was incredible despite having only like four polygons for the whole game. The second time was when the HTC Vive first came out and you could demo it at Microsoft stores. I played a game in which you have a cartoony castle and have to defend it with a bow and arrows against paper cutout men. It was a life-changing experience. Despite being cartoony, it felt like I was really there. I could even aim my bow for real because it was three dimensional like a physical object in real life. Imagine a game in which you visit your favourite city as it was a century ago and it feels like you're really there. Or how about a game that shows you what it's like to be able to fly? That twenty minute demo completely blew my mind and I still fondly tell people about it ten years later. I have not had a chance to use a VR headset since then because they are really expensive and there are no places you can go to try one out or rent it. I long for the opportunity to get a headset of my own and now that they've become significantly better than a Vive, which already felt real and affected me deeply, I can only imagine how incredible the experience must be.

Truth. Most of the used Quest 2's I find around me are hardly used, still come with the box. Usually it's someone who get's a Quest 2 on a whim, decides VR isn't for them, and then they turn around and sell it for cheap. So many deals out there right now!

I actually did get to try a Varjo Aero. I visited that Sandbox VR place and they were using them. I really liked the clarity. So far I've tried Quest 2, Varjo Aero, Quest 1, Oculus Go, Index, and Vive Pro 2. I'd personally continue to use my Quest 2 for normal use since I don't play extremely often.

Yo sandbox has some locations around me and I really want to go but they won't just let me rent an experience alone haha After optimizing with the debug settings, the compression is so much more minimal. Honestly seeing how good the Quest 2 can be if Meta would just put some more effort into their link software, it makes me feel like a bit of a fool for getting an Aero. Quest 2 is still 100% perfect for like 99% of people

Have you tried using a good link cable on the quest headsets and change bitrate in oculus debug tool to 960mbps and use h264?

I use a Kuject cable, have modified settings, but it was important in this video to talk about the out of box experience rather than trying to help competitors along. I could've changed settings to make the E4's colors better, make the sound better, etc, but I'd prefer out of the box experiences rather than 'hey if you put extra time into this it'll be better.' Still though, changing stuff in the debug menu is worth it. Massive, massive difference. On the rare occasion that I use the Quest 2, I do use modified settings, but again, out of the box experience is what's important here

DPVR has history with shady advertising. A flight sim KZbinr did a review on the E4, and it was very clear that DPVR employees in the comments (pretending not to be employees) gave positive reviews on it. That isn't a company people should be supporting.

I want to keep playing VR but it's just... Hard. I had no problems until I tried to start playing VRC from my PC to my Quest 2, and now everything's just kinda fucked. Nothing I do seems to fix the issue and I've done a few dozen "fixes" now with zero luck. At best, the "fixes" didn't make the situation worse somehow. I don't understand why there's so many issues with AMD GPUs and VR. It just makes no sense whatsoever :(

Mine has given me countless software issues after nearly 2 years of perfect operation. Everything on my end is perfect, dedicated usb card, updated everything, tried every beta version of Vive Console, every version of SteamVR, every release of my computers BIOS to make sure it wasn't a bios issue I even went as far as building an entire new pc, going from a Ryzen 7 5800x to an i9 12900k, new platform entirely Vive also sent be a brand new in the box Pro 2 to 'fix' it, still getting the same problem Pro 2 also sometimes thinks that it's a Cosmos, not a cosmos elite, just a cosmos, the inside out tracked cosmos haha Watch my 'headset from hell' video if you ever run into issues with yours, I've already fixed issues for quite a few people and their Pro 2's haha

kzbin.info/www/bejne/fF6XiqCnntCagrM@@BonelessVR old movie , quest 2 is rapleced by index and index by vive pro eye , laptop is replaced with gamming pc and main gaming pc have beter parts inside + better pc speakers. quest 2 and gamming laptop is in other room, cv1 are not used , so i can do 3 people in vr same time , i can use another laptops what have bare minimum spec for cv1 but.. its not worth, and to be honest i dont use it that much cuz i work, but it was worth evry penny belive me , vrc get so much better if i join vrc without haptic i feel naked , rly like something missing, also used haptic in pavlov or half life alyx... it was intense , not pain but overall immersion experienced fear in different way , when i took shotgun blast to the chest i needed to pause the game and rest a liitle cuz i almost got heart attack (joke but this was intense) if u ever wil have chance to test it (for longer then 2-3 hours) do it , if u use it for few days it will be hard to go back without it.

Actually the entirety of the next video is about getting an Aero and things you need to know, but here's some spoilers. You can buy them new with warranty, everything I've heard about Varjo's customer support has been great. Cost of Aero, knucks, and base stations would come out to around $1600ish US. This headset is based on the same tech that Varjo's enterprise focused XR3 and that's trusted by militaries across Europe to train pilots, as well as private instruction organizations, so I have reason to believe that it's pretty bulletproof!

The DPVR company is a Chinese company and has their products MADE IN CHINA (not that I have a probem with that, as I am Chinese myself, but Chinese products from Chinese companies for non-enterprize uses and/or high-end basically mean 2 things: 1. either good software or okay software; 2. cheap but overall not too optimised product, with exception of HuaWei's phones and my mother's company's products), and in DPVR's newest ad, they say it "is a budget option for those who want a Apple Vision Pro", also the ads that they put out in China are cringewothy asf, aand their sponsorships that they give to content creators in China (usually unexperienced with VR) also describe it as something that "can be used to watch 4k movies" instead of a VR ready headset. So I personally won't buy anything from them unless they put out a very high end headset that competes with either the pimax crystal or varjo.

I've had my vive 1 since 2017. It's done more damage to me that I have ever managed to do to it. I've bashed the controllers into walls on accident and they were unaffected. I've hit the wall face first and dropped my headset accidentally. NOTHING That thing is a tank strapped to your face.

@@BonelessVR Pico 5 specs just leaked. Probably best to wait for a Pico 5 at this point. Especially the Max version has some insane specs. Uses XR2 Gen 2, 3840x3840 resolution per eye, has a display port for those who care and controllers don't have rings anymore. Only thing we don't know yet is the contrast & brightness level for the lenses. But everything else basically takes the Pico 4 and turns it up a notch. For PC VR, Quest 3 likely won't compare.

It runs vrchat on the same graphics but like 50% higher fps. Handles mirrors much better. Screen is much cleaner looking and less glare. You can set the graphics higher on sidequest and it will work well
