I appreciate your rundown of the various yarns. I'm not really a scarf person. I'm always hot, and the place I live doesn't get snow. That leaves pillows, table linens, towels, etc. I enjoy weaving but often would like to imagine a good reason for my hobby. So many such things can be bought cheaply at the store.

Just found this video. it was helpful. I'm currently weaving a Krogbragd project. The warp is 20/2 cotton. My tensions loosens when my heddle is in the down position and I thought it was something I did wrong when putting the warp on the loom. Hi Kelly I bought an Ashford 16" SampleIt Rigid Heddle a couple of weeks ago. I'm brand new to this, never done weaving or spinning and haven't knitted anything for 40 years! Loving the weaving - partly inspired to take it up by an Anni Albers exhibition - and finding your videos really helpful. The informal style is great. This video came in handy today as I'm a new weaver and have recently warped my RHL with acrylic yarns and have been struggling with it. Sew up a square basket, one large enough to hold a batch of biscuits. Use your towel for the liner and to fold up over the biscuits to keep them warm. Would really be pretty for that and would keep your biscuits warm for quite some time. I do it all the time. I do it for corn on the cob too and it keeps it hot longer. Just an idea.

Thank you for this very informative video. I just purchased my second ridge heedle loom at 32” wide and I have an extra heedle in 7.5. The Ashford loom now comes equipped with the double heedle brackets. I wanted to work on a poncho that was in issue 30 of the Wheel Ashford’s fibercraft Magazine. It calls for using hand spun yarn, which I was glad for now I can use the yarn I spun in merino wool. Unfortunately I don’t have enough for the whole project and found in my stash a beautiful solid Uru.yarn from KNITCRATE colorway Enlightened a stunning teal/turquoise in 85% merino and15% silk. It is a DK weight yarn. Would this be ok to work with? Also, can I combine fingering and and DK on the Warp. I planned on using a fingering for the Weft. Thank you for your help, Amy Sceri Queens, New York
@KellyCasanova4 жыл бұрын
Hi Amy, Yes, combining these would be fine, just know that if you have different weights of yarn in the warp that these may stand out as lines or texture the end fabric a little. Could be quite interesting!

@@KellyCasanova Hi Kelly, When you say you "sleyed" 4 threads per dent does that mean that the 4 threads become like one? And related I think. If you figure that your set should be 20 and you have a 10 per inch reed, would you sley 2 threads per dent to get 20? And then the 2 threads are like one, ie the weft thread is going around the 2 (or 4 as in the silk example above) as if they were 1, right?
