So in these cases you don't have to worry about personality, because it's already chosen for you. So when I'm choosing, I'm going for something I will not be sick at looking at. Lumine's dress for example. I hate. And when you can change clothing I research which gender has the options I like better.

Whereas anything can be hot and have a not hot personality. People wouldn't just call a snarling chihuahua with snot all over its face and bulging eyes "cute". Cute is more behavior based.
