Choosing the Chanel Jumbo or Medium flap

Hello! I wanted to share my thought process for choosing the Jumbo over the medium flap. Hopefully the points may prove helpful for anyone who is thinking about investing in their first classic Chanel piece.

Great size comparison review. I feel the same way when it comes to choosing the size. I opted for the medium size in white caviar so I'm able to protect it more as I wear it out.

I'm currently on the waitlist for both a Jumbo and a Medium, I'm so excited, but in the meantime, I continue to watch your videos to see which of the two I'll end up purchasing. Thank you soooooooooooo much. Your video is the ONLY video that has helped me get a good idea of the size comparison AND colour. I only carry light coloured bags.. And it seems that most ladies opt for the black as it's a 'safer' option. Your video was very detailed and yet still intriguing. The biege colour is gorgeous! Hi Sherin, thanks for sharing your opinion. I own 2 black Chanel flap bags - medium/large in Caviar leather with SHW and the other which I just got it 2 weeks ago a Jumbo in Lambskin with GHW. I kind of regret the purchase of the Lambskin but having watched your video, I supposed I should just go ahead and enjoy both bags . :)

Hello! you know, i do think the look of lambskin with GHW is the Most luxurious combo. As long as you store the bags properly they should last you a long time! enjoy them! I always stare when i see someone with a lambskin jumbo. :)

Good comparison Sherin!! Helpful for many I''m sure!! I'm a jumbo fan - just love the proportion!! But I can see that for a more petite lady, the medium may be the way to go. I did the jumbo, and then the mini flap for more formal evening use. But hey, any Chanel is gorgeous!!! x0x0x0

I had my jumbo 2.55 lambskin pattern leather. Unfortunately it was not comfortable to wear...heavy n too small. can not accomodate my things. I would buy gst ...n Lady Dior is the best to me.

hello dear! thanks for your comment! I don't know when I can get to this video yet but! in to your question, my lambskin bags does not get scuffs as i'm careful with them, but over time, the puffs do deflate and the small scratches from use also become more obvious. The caviar definitely holds up better over time, they still look brand new. hope this helps a bit!

Hi Sherin!!! I have a Chanel Classic Flap dilemma!!! Please give me some advices. So I have decided I will go for the medium size. However I cannot decide what colour/ hardware to go for!!! Im choosing between black caviar with gold hardware, black caviar with silver hardware or light beige with gold hardware. I am more casual type of girl like I always wear jeans/ flats and hardly wear dress or skirt unless special occasions. Also I tend to wear lighter colours during summer and darker colour during winter (like most of us). Lastly I already own a Chanel Le Boy with silver hardware and I see myself liking the silver and it seems more casual... I hope this comment is not TOO long... THanks in advance !!!

I think truthfully though, they may not give us the dustbag if we don't have a purchase history/relationship with the SA. won't hurt to try though! sorry that you're in this situation... xx

I just went to the Chanel store and found a light beige caviar. This is my first time thinking about buying a bag. I found that the light beige came in two versions, one had a dull (no sheen) to it and another had a shiny/glittery sheen to it. Both were considered "light beige". Which one is the classic color or is it the leather type that is a result of the sheen? I am in no rush to buy it, but if the shiny/glittery sheen is limited...I may have to go back and buy it. LBlush Hi dear, the classic color should be a dull (no sheen) leather. Is the shiny/glittery sheen one the newer iridescent caviar? it should feel softer than caviar but studier than lambskin. That one is made of calfskin if i'm not wrong. it isn't limited edition. Chanel has been coming out with bags made of this for a few seasons now :) hope this helps!

Thank you so so much for your help...yes, it was caviar with iridescent. I think the Neiman Marcus sales associate wanted me just to just open a credit card account and buy the bag. I didn't want to make a hast decision since it was such a large purchase. Now, I found that their Chanel beige color comes in a few versions now that I scoured the internet to do research. Beige Claire, light beige (the one I saw), etc. now I am really confused lol. Once again thank you for sharing your knowledge and thoughts...it is so helpful

hello Laura! The medium flap is also called the medium/large flap so there is no other size between the 2. I know it's quite confusing!
