It just shows how rushed the ending is. You break up with him right before and he takes it with grace, before the cazador quest he's obviously upset, but accepts it without throwing a tantrum. Then he acts like he would've done in the 1st act at the end. All that progress thrown out the window.

I mean, it's kind of fair given how out of the blue that kind of thing seems. His response of "What? *NOW* ? After _aaaall_ this?" is pretty fitting. And his defaulting back to his old attitude there is clearly a defense mechanism to keep from actually letting himself get hurt of show weakness in the moment. You can bet your ass he's going to ugly cry (we Stan genuine emotion in this house) about it later on his way to the Underdark.

​@@Enigmatic_Lurker um no? If it were rushed, they'd reuse the dialogue from earlier in the game. That break up is new dialogue written, programmed and voice-acted just for the end of the game. And yes, it is a show of his character growth. The reason he takes earlier breakups with heartbroken grace is because he had poor self esteem and would accept being dumped for often no reason because he believed there was something inherently broken in him that must have driven the player away. Him getting indignant shows he has enough self worth now to realize he didn't do anything wrong and doesn't automatically deserve to be dropped for his very nature. The breakup IS totally random and sudden, it'd be normal to be confused and angry about being dumped for no reason. It's not a regression just because he doesn't take it without complaint; in fact, him not accepting being treated unfairly IS a part of his growth.

It can be read either way, but it’s possible to get this scene before his approval is high enough to be considered “in love.” I think he’s still messing around with you, and likes it when you call him on it.

I think he's giving Tav the ol razzle dazzle here. It doesnt mean he doesnt truly love Tav by the end of the game, it's just good storytelling. He's lying to Tav's face and showing that he is a very skilled liar because he is legitimately convincing here. That's at least my interpretation!

I've only done a good playthrough and haven't seen most of this and honestly probably couldn't bring myself to click them either lol)... so thank you! I am surprised the scene from act 2, where he basically admits to having developed real feelings for mc and then talks about all the trauma related to intimacy he's been through, and then you can choose to manipulate him into sleeping with you anyways, wasn't in this. It's a pretty horrible scene. I've only ever seen that scene once because of another video that I stumbled upon and it's still definitely the saddest/most upsetting scene I've seen related to him.

I choosed that last break up too, just out of curiosity. He said he would understand and yet his reaction is top tier of drama. We have shock, „how dare you” line, anger, something that sound like trying to awake jelousy, classical„don’t come back to me and cry if you change your mind”. Astarion, darling, you said you will understand and yet everything proves you’re unable to accept us parting ways (we will at some point mate, it’s impossible to overcome) in any way. And I thought between two of them my character would be the one to get emotional. Of course I loaded my save and choosed to go with him into Underdark. I love that Man too much, even if staying means living there…at least I have mushroom people as company. Couple of animals or trees would be nice for my druid, otherwise there is no way she won’t try to sneak out.

You have to get and unlock the book in the underground blighted village area. Unlock the necromancy book with the gem, have him in your party when you try to read it. He will offer to take it off your hands. You’ll get some approval when he gets it

For me it happened before entering into Act 2. I was in the Underdark, before entering the Arcane Tower or the Forge. My approval with him was always quite high though, so Idk how much you'd need. I'd assume that you would have to had slept with him and seen the scars that way bc he does not tell you about them otherwise, if I remember correctly. And maybe have had the mirror scene before? Not sure about that one though. You will learn about the scars either way but if he doesn't tell you, Raphael will

@@heroinfather316 it can be a bit finicky depending on how much you're progressing with the whole party/everyone in camp. Some scenes always get priority, such as overall plot related scenes. But most quests aren't time sensitive, so you can long rest comfortably to see if new ones trigger.
