We are required in Texas to leave a residential tankless or tank type water heaters at 120 degrees. The majority of residential tankless and tank type water heaters can be set to 140 degrees, but the licensed plumbing contractor is not able to legally set it at that temperature. You as the homeowner can. Any hotter than 140, would be considered commercial grade and not recommend for residential applications.
