Great explanation. There is one thing though that I do do. I use the slowest reel I own, 6.3 to 1, to slow roll swim baits and spinner baits on the bottom.

I typically just use a fast reel on spinning gear. The bigger spool the more line it picks up so I like a 3500 size.
