Great tips! I’m always attracted to the colours and then have to put them back because they aren’t the right yarns 😊

Yes, I'm drawn to colour very much too. High five for putting it down if it's not right!🙌

Thank you, Hannah. What is the best yard you recommend for biginners?

Yarn will be different for everyone, depending if you have a project in mind. I suggest starting with medium weight (medium thickness) yarn and needles - aran/worsted weight with 5mm needles, or whatever size the yarn recommends. Too fine a yarn can be difficult to control with smaller stitches. If you get to thick the needles can be uncomfortable and again the stitches can be difficult to control as well. If you're able to knit with wool, then I'd suggest something like Drops Peru or Drops Alaska if you're on a smaller budget. Rowan 'Felted Tweed Aran' for a wool yarn, or Wool And The Gang 'Shiny Happy Cotton' is ideal if you'd like to start with a slightly larger budget. - higher quality yarns will last longer and generally will be easier to knit with. This video might be a good start for you as well as you choose projects: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoqQf6N-dpt5qLM Happy knitting! 🧶

I’ve knitted on and off for a long time but really got in to it waiting for my latest baby as I needed to sit still and not stress and I felt in my own way like I was bonding with baby while creating things for them to wear once they arrive. Anyways, I reached a point where hubby was asking me how much one child can wear but I didn’t want to stop and started doing bits for friends and learning a lot more skills. I said to him why don’t I see if I can make some money out of it. My gifts have been well received and have a mummy friend waiting eagerly for any knit items to come to her as Deborah our grows them. He looked me in the eye and said “No you are not good enough what if it all un ravels on some ones baby?!” I was briefly furious but realised he did have a point. My garments had not stood the test of time and wear yet. Previously I had only made blankets and one of my girls loved hers till it was more hole than blanket as it had got caught in buggy wheels and torn. But nearly 6 months of wear from my little one and good reports from the few things I gifted hubby looks over last night and says “Why have you not started selling yet? You can’t knit for our kids for ever they will grow out of liking mums knits. “ I did eye ball him sternly and remind him what he had said but now he wants to help me set up as a business so I’m pretty excited. And now I know I’ve got all the vital kit, which yarn I want to go for for my baby knits and that I’m going to be a knit your stock first sort of knitter and may open a small private order book for friends and family as and when I have time on my hands. Only once I’m well established though.

Thanks so much for sharing your journey. I’ve had to ‘reknit’ baby blankets in the past as they get so much wear. So great that you have the feedback and have grown your knitting skills so that you feel ready now. You can do this! 🧶

Knit With Hannah Thanks. I sure hope so. But if not I was going to knit any ways and there will always be some one I can gift it to some where.

Theres times I get a yard and I love it but as I knit with it I realize that it has allot of loose fibers all over it. I hate those, is there a way to avoid that? I know some yarns are worse offenders than others.

Yes, this can be to do with the ply, so definitely watch this video too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqWyYYagpJKCi5o Sinlge plies will likely have more fluff than those that are multi-plied. And of course the fibre will make a difference too. But also as often as is possible go to the store to feel and hold the yarn be for you commit or get one ball/skein to test it out before buying all you need. Happy knitting!

In your opinion, what fibers used in projects need to be blocked and those that don’t.
@KnitWithHannah

Hi Phyllis! In my experience it's more the project, than the fibre that will let you know about the blocking. Something that has to be a particular shape, such as a lace shawl with a finely shaped border will need blocking. And a smartphone case, with very little texture that will be fine without.
