Your lbs to kilo conversion is backwards. It's 2.2 lbs per kilo not 2.2 kilos per lb - so a bow weighs 0.5 kilos. But otherwise this guide seems pretty good!

I mean hey it's Canada. I know a few old timers off the mainland who still live by old guns like that. And it's a very renewable weapon, considering you can cast your own bullets without to much hassle.

Well being that the rifle in the Long Dark is a British Short Magazine Lee Enfield that was used in both WW1 & early WW2 & was highly reliable & favored by soldiers, I'd go with the rifle. Great video, by the way👍. I got this game last week; that was one of the best $30.00 bucks I spent. I freaking love this game.

I’ve only made it because I’m in pilgrim lol but I either need to get moving or get hunting because I’ve been everywhere in CH and ML I was considering going to DP and making a bow but I have no idea where to find saplings. I found one once but I stupidly left it and have no idea where it was Any recommendations?

@@Crow.c Your best bet is probably Mystery lake, Musket, and Broken Rail road, I found over 12 maple sapling walking around and exploring. In fact, you might find a pre made bow near hunter cabin in maintenance yard region. That's where I got my first moose kill as well.

@@Crow.c I'm In a custom in between Voyager and stalker with pilgrim loot spawns and lower fatigue rates. I'm at day 13 and just got done making my dear skin pantaloons and bunny mits. Gonna go hunt a bear today,hunt a deer tommorow,and another bear the day after that. Have fun in desolation point! There is a chance for free bow in desolation point btw.

I really prefer the bow. I super rarely use the rifle. You should also mention that you will also increase your bowskill by just crafting arrows. So I reccomend to use the rifle at the beginning of the game while you try to get a good stock on arrows. With bow on LV5 you probably never need the rifle again and the rifle will also never drop on highest difficulty. So yeah...bow x3

They should add improvised ammo but it would require a forge and uses more condition for example normal ammo takes 1% condition and the improvised dose 5%

I survived for 28 days 11 hours and 48 minutes and I had racked up 15 wolves 7 rabbits 5 deer and 2 bears and I went to the Carter Hydro Dam to do some secondary looting and I got stuck outside the Dam on the other side and I couldn't get back in and I tried to find a way back up and I got attacked by a wolf twice lost my boots and then I tried to start a fire failed wasted all my fire stuff barely clinging to life I desperately looked for a way out hypothermia setting in I realized fuck I'm going to die down here and I succumbed to hypothermia and I faded in to The Long Dark

rifle is a bit harder to use nowadays because its too bulky that you cant really see what's on you're feet so a wolf can easily kick your ass while you try to aim

I take away from this one central point; the rifle is ideal for an early primary weapon before transitioning to the bow which is possible to sustain…? I’m playing yoyaguer, 5 days in to my current save having had a few dozen terrible pay through lasting a maximum of 20 something days, now I have looted and centralised and am ready to mount short expeditions across pleasant valley in order to secure a rifle & complete the map for looting…I’m setting snares as I go 🐰

If you can figure out the bow, it's probably the best weapon in terms of how much you can hunt vs how light it is. It's an effective weapon against every animal, you won't even need to stone rabbits if you have fire hardened arrows. I've one shot a moose with the bow before and taken down dozens of everything else besides bears. Not to mention it's very sustainable even in the late game with beachcombing and retrieving your arrows.

Check every building and crevices and such around them... sometimes items can be 'hidden' in plain sight!

I'll always use only the rifle it's the only good choice because I've watched hundreds of hours of people landing one shot kills with the bow but even with my level 5 archery I miss my shots on a bear standing still from less than 5 yards even if my arrow is right on his body but I'll never miss with my rifle even at level 1, sorry for all bow users but rifle is better than all weapons and using an ammunition workshop you have nearly unlimited ammo as long as you religiously look for shell casings

Yup, it's going to be discussed in an upcoming video. It is currently a game mechanic at play in the Coastal Highway and Desolation Point regions. Along the ice shelf, you eventually reach the open sea. Along it, mostly on the unsafe ice, items will wash up. You can collect them by sprinting out, grabbing them, and sprinting back before you fall in. I'll have a whole episode detailing how to do it sometime early next month.

You got your kilos conversion backward. 1 kilo is about two pounds. So a 0.33 lb arrow is roughly 0.16 kg, not 0.66. A 9.24 lbs rifle is exactly 4.19 kg
