The Chopin Études were given nicknames by several scholars, but the more popular nicknames are from the Hans Von Bülow catalogue (I guess that you would call it that). Thank you for the amazing video. 😊👍🏻

Yay! You put this video out the very same week I started learning this piece. Thanks!

Also... You consider the ocean etude a starter etude? With that tempo, that even pros have trouble with? I don’t think so. If one started with this piece there’s no way they could play it up to speed.

The first Chopin etude I played was 10-4, the technical benefits were amazing as I saw a big improvement in speed on scales and broken chords/arpeggios. Sadly, it either gave me tendonitis or really accelerated the development of it... I guess I learned two valuable lessons from the etude: I learned how to play fast, and the importance of loose playing.

Are you going to cover Etude op. 25 no. 10 (octave) in a pro practice? I'm working on it now and struggle with holding the inner voices while moving octaves in the outer.

What would u say is harder this or fantaise impromptu
@m4tt1afm514 жыл бұрын
I think fantasie impromptu is a little harder than this, this is the first virtuosistic piece I've learnt. I know a girl who started with this etude, then she played op. 10 n. 5 and after a year she played op. 25 n. 12 (all etudes by chopin) . She never played fantasie impromptu, maybe because it's too difficult, maybe because she don't like it.

This one is harder because it’s more minimalistic.

In the right hand the first of six-note group is accented. I've been practising with accenting the first note of every triplets. This makes it sound completely different. What are the pros and cons of this?

Josh, my daughter is playing this piece. She's 9 and has small hands. She struggles to get a clear sound of every note in m.7. She's tried 6 beat rhythm practices(1-234561,12-345612 etc) but still can't quite get the clarity of esp. B flat and D flat in this measure when playing at fast speed. Could you give her some advice? Thank you! (Here is her video recording kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXbOo56rg9mHmNk)
