i remember reading a story about liszt and chopin playing at a salon, Lizst played one of Chopin's pieces and as usual took liberties with the music. Chopin stopped him and told him to either play it as written or not play it at all. Liszt told him "why dont you play it then?" Chopin did, and when he finished, Liszt embraced him and said "Music such as yours should not be tampered with"

Piękne ! Beautiful ! Chopin's music is Polish in the most literal sense, as much as (for example!) Giuseppe Verdi's music is Italian. Understand these notes, and you will understand what does the word "Polish" truly mean - for Chopin "paints Poland" using music - our Polish countryside, our rivers, lakes, forests, fields ripe with grain, appletrees orchards blossoming as well as our History, wars, tragedies, and hopes for the future. Most of all - the unbreakable Spirit of generations of our People. Thank You for this upload.
