I remember the video you made for this guitar. Sure there are guitars with much better sound but the historical value makes up for it. Its amazing to see that instrument still in action. Oh,fantastic playing btw 😊

In terms of ability to make music, what would you say is a guitar with "a much better sound"? I am beginning to suspect that the whole Spanish guitar interlude may have been a detour from the main point, in which development driven by flamenco was co-opted and misapplied, until we ended up with an effete poodle to replace the robust musical efficacy of guitars like this.

I did an arrangement for this piece keeping it in the original key of A major. Try it. I'd be curious to see what you think about it in the original key on guitar. For example guitarists always play Bach prelude in G major in D major and it always just sounds wrong. (This sounds amazing btw, just curious what you'd think) Anyway, amazing playing and thanks for the great videos!!
@brandonacker
@brandonacker 10 ай бұрын
Thanks 😊 I personally don't believe that there is anything special about keys that needs to be preserved when arranging for another instrument. In fact, Bach himself didn't think so either because he often arrangement the same music for different instruments and would normally change the key to fit each instrument.
@karlpoppins
@karlpoppins 9 ай бұрын
Wait until you realise it _always_ "sounds wrong" in modern performances, regardless of the instrument, because the vast majority of performers use A440 and equal temperament. Maybe in the case of romantic composers you'd have a point, but your mentioning Bach does not work in your favour.
@lordthicknipples-gt2oq
@lordthicknipples-gt2oq 9 ай бұрын
@@karlpoppinsI think the issue is that the guitar tuning (and equal temperament in general) is not perfect, which is why when you try to play certain songs on a guitar without re-tuning a string or two it will sound off. I just realized I kind of restated what you said, I'm drunk asf right now so I'm just gonna post this anyway. Here, have a rocketship 8=======================D~~~
