My wife, Stage name, Connie Howell, was Adrian Rollini's only student of Vibes. His wife Dixie, hand wound the soft mallets that were used when playing softer, dinner music. Connie also had the same Deagan Imperial instrument. She was with the Guitarist, Frank Victor quartet playing the same style music in clubs around New York. Later had her own group, The Connie Howell Trio. I was a singer and we married in 1949, worked east circuit and moved to Miami. Interesting note, Guitar player Harry Volpe lived with us for a while when he moved to Miami and formed the Harry Volpe trio with Connie and a girl Bassist, It made my day to see these great musicians remembered. Those were great days for music.

Can you IMAGINE the music that this talented man ( who always surrounded himself with the best) must have put on at his New York night club in the 1930s! Oh for a time machine!

Wonderful playing. But what a serious bunch this is! I was glad to see Mr. Rollini finally crack a small smile around the two minute mark.

This is just before the era of multi-track recording inaugurated by Les Paul. Had it been available then, Rollini could have accompanied himself on bass sax, vibes, goofus, chimes, bassoon, and a few other really obscure instruments like the "hot fountain pen".

Kpop is very good if it's the sound of the cork being pulled from a bottle of Dom Perignon.

Yes this is most likely a "soundie" for something like the "Panorama" Video jukebox.

Was this what is know as a soundie or something similar designed to be played in a kind of video jukebox of the period? What was the original purpose for this film if anyone knows? Was it theatrical or some other purpose?
