It was obviously a Multi-vortex tornado, there weren't any "Tiny cells" There was 1 main tornado that had several vortices inside it causing random damage to 1 home and not another :3
@crispycritterz3 жыл бұрын
This is fairly common with strong tornadoes. Fortunately it wasn’t on the ground for long. There was rotation in many areas but only a couple of cells produced discrete funnels.
@roberthoffhines54193 жыл бұрын
Yes, or what some call "satellite" vortices whipping out from the main funnel? Must've been a very broad overall rotating body, maybe 1/3 mile to bet those outlier roofs damaged so far from the main destruction path?
@crispycritterz3 жыл бұрын
@Jam1053428 based on early radar reports, the center of rotation may have been aloft for 10 miles even before the funnel appeared.
@jheiny12313 жыл бұрын
I don't think there was technically a " tornado ". I believe it was just spinning cells close to earth that had enough wind to damage trees and roofs. But I don't believe an actual tornado touch down. Nobody has pictures or videos
@crispycritterz3 жыл бұрын
@@jheiny1231 Tornadoes at night are difficult to spot much less photograph. Combine that with the storm being rain wrapped you have a near impossible task in getting a visual on it. I was at 79th and Archer and barely saw an area of low hanging clouds that turned out to be a funnel off in the distance.
@music.m863 жыл бұрын
When this happened I was in a buffet with my family, luckily it wasn't near us but I was still panicking inside. Shortly after the tornado happened I got an alert for a flash flood. Started raining after but the flood wasn't that bad.

I think this comment is a bit insensitive. Naperville may be a wealthy suburb but not everyone who lives there is wealthy or has homeowners' insurance. Even if they did, it is still sad to have the home they grew up in destroyed. Also, Woodridge is not Naperville, and it isn't nearly as wealthy.
