Seller ignored me. 2 months later a neighbor down the street found them behind bushes and luckily could still read the address and brought them to me otherwise I would have been out hundreds of dollars. There are more first hand experience with them at my work that sucks but that is my own personal experience and shipment. They all suck and don't have to do anything even if they don't do there job.

Lee, I too have a horror story with UPS.....I avoid them like the plague, I had a friend in Maine that sent me a Belt/Disc industrial sander to Tennessee, it was crated, anchored well, and then strapped and boxed for shipment, and when I got it it was bent in half, and literally destroyed, filed a clam, denied, why, poor packing, after the ups deliver guy watched me take the box apart to show him the damage, sound familiar? The UPS driver took it, back, and I never heard about it again....I use, and always will use Fed Ex or Priority USPS mail. I have been told that when packages come down the conveyor belt at UPS, they fall down on other packages, and many are destroyed, but still delivered, hoping people will just take them and TRY, to file claim that never happens. I restored an old Chevy pickup, and in the center of the grill there is a Chevrolet emblem piece about 24 ish inches long, it was shipped in a 5 foot box, bubble wrapped and packed real well, when UPS delivered it to me, the box was bent right in half, and guess where the emblem was....yup.....NO MORE UPS....!!!!

I had the same thing happen with UPS. Months of messing around and denied. I have never used UPS again or will I. My part was not nearly as cool as yours or as costly. I got 50% of the value back. Not a big loss but very discouraging. It not just because you are in Canada. It looks like you have salvaged your extisting frame very well.
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms Жыл бұрын
I realize it’s nots just because I’m in Canada. The Canada part is in regards to UPS charging an additional 25% charge when they get to the door for bringing the package in to Canada. Not 25% of the shipping charges, 25% of the package value. I ordered a Classic Auto Air kit a couple years ago, the vendor shipped UPS without telling me. And then the UPS driver gave me a bill for $395 when he arrived at my door.

Regarding your UPS rant (with some people it is Fed Ex Ground). As a former P&D Contractor with RPS (Roadway Package System now Fed Ex Ground) I am privy to the way the small package system works and UPS is similar (actually UPS is the older company since 1909). What we have here is that there are many packages run through the distribution system and they vary in size, weight, and of course there are fragile items being transported with heavier items and this puts us in a situation where there can be damage to items that are shipped (although we must remember that the people in this particular industry are also customers receiving goods and there is a constant effort to improve service in this area) Moving packages through a system such as this boils down to production. Production beings as there is only so much time allowed to sort the various packages going through the system in order to get things delivered on time. At RPS when damages were inspected at the terminal ninety nine percent of the time claims were denied due to improper packaging. I can understand a receivers frustration at receiving an item damaged but unfortunately this is the system we have to deal with. The best way to handle this is to purchase the item from Iron Trap and get in your ride and drive to their location receive the item from them (after inspecting it) and drive back to your location. This will get the item out of the logistics of any of the carriers (UPS, FED EX, USPS, etc). If the item is damaged when you get to your location then you must file a claim with the person you are looking at in the mirror. Of course you and I know that this is not a practical solution to the problem. One could engage with a specialized carrier that would guarantee damage free service but the cost of that service would be greater and for certain items would be unfeasible. Actually when there were damages I would advise the receiver to contact the shipper, which in this case would have been Iron Trap Garage and they should file the claim with the shipper and you get your money back through Pay Pal.
@LGKustoms
@LGKustoms Жыл бұрын
So what your saying is, it’s okay for a company to charge customers additional money for insurance, but then not payout when the company damages the product? And instead, I should drive 5000kms to another country and pick up the item myself? That’s ridiculous. UPS needs to take accountability for their actions.
@billywird
@billywird Жыл бұрын
@@LGKustoms If I remember right there is automatically 100.00 insurance applied to all shipments and if the customer wants more coverage it is so much per 100.00 extra coverage. My comment about driving 5000kms to another country to pick up an item would ensure that the item is not damaged. Of course that it not practical but if one wants damage free shipments then one should fetch the items himself. Of course there are other companies that can carry the item and may do a better job. The crazy brokerage fees and rules are kind of out of our hands as the US Government and the Canadian Government have a trade treaty and the rules are in said treaty. It is the shippers duty to buy the insurance (of course the cost is passed onto the consumer) and it should be the shippers duty to file a damage claim with the carrier (of course the verdict is almost always improper packing). Here's one for you; We had a customer that sent out a rebuilt hydraulic cylinder on a C.O.D. basis and the package was lost. Well that shipper filed a claim and what RPS paid on that claim was 100.00. Why? Because the shipper did not Declare Value of 5,000.00 on that insurance and the first 100.00 was free but every 100.00 there after was so much per 100.00 claimed (I forget what the rate was) The sales rep that handled the account tried to go to bat for the shipper but RPS denied their claim. Of course the shipper quit using us and did more business with UPS, but the rule applied the same with UPS. The shipper learned a valuable lesson about declaring value on packages. It is unfortunate but this is how these companies work. Perhaps Iron Trap Garage should get into delivering their products themselves as well as other automotive vendors. I'm not trying to defend these small package carriers but they give the best rates as compared with truck freight, and this is how they are allowed to operate under transportation laws.

Years ago I bought a big neon clock (Signal Gas) out of California. The seller took it to a UPS store where they boxed it using Styrafoam popcorn to protect it. (It should have been in a wooden crate with foam protection.) The popcorn compressed when other packages were laid on top and broke the neon glass! Anyways i receive it and 90% of the neon is broke. I open a claim, they said they would pay for all repairs & shipping. I sent it to a Neon shop in Vancouver and they repaired it perfectly and they sent the bill to UPS who paid for it as it was their poor packing which created the damage. I agree about ups and their brokerage fees. When I buy parts I ask the suppliers to ship it anyway they can but not ups.

Yup! I’ve stopped dealing with certain suppliers because they would only use UPS.

Nice job on the frame...I try to get pointers from any video I watch..plus with every problem you worked thru it to fix any defects fantastically.....watching your fix may have solved a problem that I have on a roadster truck... I need to fix the inside part that the frame attaches to on the body itself...The first try at banging sheet metal did not work...after watching you make the tube work by slicing it together I think I can slice and dice round tube and make it work better and I want it to look the same as an original piece and get one of my caged bolts and weld that to the inside tube and maybe finish the stanchion body brace, the part the two screws attach , mine are rusted on a roadster truck....they don't sell just the top part...round tube may also work making my own windshield tops...with slicing and flattening out the tube gradually... now looking for some thin wall tubing...to give it a go...its only metal, just keep at it till it works....thanks

@@LGKustoms btw, thanks for a response, I have been doing this for over 30 years and always try to watch and listen how other people would do it and I am not afraid to change my view. I work on model a's some original some hot rod, depending on how much the car needs... really impressed with the 32 two door you are working on...I knew you would not be able to leave the car alone with some bad issues...rebuild and adjust is perfect for that car. Ok, I'm going back to the shop, got some paint prep to do, I paint my own cars and repairs too...
