Chopping Corn Silage near Jerome Idaho
In this video I am out in a corn field near Jerome Idaho as a custom silage harvester is chopping corn for a dairy farm. In the video you will see two Krone Big X 1180 self propelled forage harvester chopping the silage into trucks. The silage is being hauled across the road and I have a few shot as the corn silage pile is just getting started. On the silage pile is a Case IH & New Holland articulate 4WD tractor with front blades pushing and packing the silage.

Thank you mike for this corn chopping video. This was always my favorite time of the year chopping corn silage. Never had self propelled harvester. We did have a gentleman who we used to rent his bagger .that he came up one year when i had a my hernia surgery he brought his self propelled john deere harvester chopped the corn for my aunt that fall because i wasnt allowed to lift anything heavy so she paid him to chop the corn and bag it.i wished could have rode along with him for awhile but i just got out of the hospital. But i love the smell of fresh chopped corn silage as well as the fermented silage i love that smell nothing like it. Again thank you mike for efiting these videos for our enjoyment.

Choppers make so much Torque and HP and some are 4wd and have great traction so they are as good as a tractor for pulling a truck out of the mud. LOL I've seen that done before like @ 16:10, some farmers bolt on a vertical mounted pipe on each corner of the rear bumper of their chopper to carry tow straps and chains for doing this. You can tell it's early in the chopping season, trucks are still clean. You need to take a look at the dairy in Idahome, as you are going from Utah to Burley on I-84 take the Idahome exit but go east from the exit 4 miles. There are carrells covering a mile square. They have 2 double 72 rotary milking barns and an indoor feed mixing building. Semi's drive up a ramp and unload into the various commodity bays. They also have several methane digesters. Always a lot going on.

Hate the be that “guy” but it’s actually 2 106 stall rotaries under 1 roof and another barn with 4 rotaries under 1 roof, our calves actually get raised by him at his Jerome location

A great stretch of wide open farmland in that part of Idaho. A very good crop of corn and Krone forage harvesters are fantastic. Thanks for sharing. When was this video taken--like what month?
