Not overdrumming, very tight locked to each other. My favorite kind of drummer for sure. Great band as well.

Good googly moogly! They were in there like swimwear. My man put a mean hurting on that 16th note triplet feel. His placement is ridonkulous. I love that he didn't resort to an assault of 32nd notes throughout the song.

My favorite part...4:09..e..that was so cool the break he does.Church players are among the world's best,hands down, the creativity finds it's way eventually to the studio, always has...but in church we get to play on God's time. Which is perfect. Plus I'm in church most weekends..playing, keyboards with a tight drummer as well. He and the Bass player....locked in Gospel Heaven...play it!!

Let's just get to the point, I'm an old school drummer but that was by far some of the best, if not the best muscianship I have viewed along and heard since videos started going viral! That's what a band/group should sound like...One band! One sound! I blv that's Ken Brooks from making the band on drums! I don't know if you guys play together often but if you do keep it up you guys sound phenomenal but if you don't you all should think about becoming a band the harmony was awesome but please tell these God awful sound techs to add some major bottom to these bass players geez these sounds techs these days are garbage they have no eat for sound! And one more thing... whomever was playing the timbales please STOP! The cowbell was a nice fill in but whomever was playing the cowbell should've just kept with the timing! Don't ruin the sound like that...sounds like someone saw free percussion set and started banging! STOP IT!!
@musicman13cj6 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the encouragement. But naw we do not play together often only at the convention really. But we have known each other for several years now. It's always good to reconnect at the convention. And yea thats the drummer from making his band. His name is "Kris Brooks". Honestly the sound men were doing a great job. Technically this video was shot behind stage with all the sound being pushed away from the shot. I believe most of what we are hearing from is the monitor behind the drums and the Leslie in the corner. Also a lot of bottom could be being shaved off with the camera to reduce some of the boom because the motif sounds a little thin as well. Thanks again for the support and encouragement. It goes a long way!!!

@Chuckey Robinson. I'm a P/T musician & sound engineer (for 20+ years) who "stumbled upon" the video today. I was going to respond to Stacey Smith's remark by agreeing that: Yes, It was a great ensemble performance. Also Yes... There are a lot of mediocre & bad sound engineers who continue to get work in the gospel and secular industry. However, to be fair... It was hard to critique the sound crew's work based off of this video - that was clearly not connected to a direct audio feed from any of the mixing consoles.

One of the few gospel chops that serves the song. Even toward the end all his fills are within the groove, more tribal and accents the band rather than shedding. What was the programmed tight hi hat clock track for?
