i would have to disagree. the app works almost TOO well. wouldnt recommend it to beginners. it will make them lazy and they wont be training their ears to recognize key, pitch, progression etc. beginners should run like hell in the opposite direction from apps like these
@PraiseTracks2 жыл бұрын
You make an excellent point. The beginner has no context as to how the chords they are looking at actually is built and why it works. It is like someone just getting a drivers license and someone gives them their first muscle car, they would most likely crash 💥 in a very short time. This is a very important aspect to think about. I had a very basic understanding of theory, my first true encounter with understanding chords was when my high school band director took a lot of his time to help me understand basic structures which was a game changer.

The MRI analogy is interesting in another way. An MRI, Melodyne, and this program you're showing, are all using Fourier Transform math, to separate a "signal" (radio waves, chords) into different frequencies, phases, and amplitudes. So the software hears "FACE" all mixed together, and separates it into F, A, C, and E. It's facinating that a phone app can do this so quickly.

Well I tried this on a few songs of mine. First I tried it on a heavily arranged song which I recorded a long time ago , and .had lots of chord changes. I forgot which chords I used and never wrote them down way back when. I was positive after playing the chords on my piano it displayed that it got quite a bit of it right but I wasn't too sure about all of it. So I tried a very simple 5 chord song I wrote and knew every chord change in it. Chordai got the chorus right but it failed to get the last chord in one of the verses, mistaking an A minor for an E minor. This was a very inportant chord change in the song so it was disappointing as it was not a heavily arranged song and only had piano and voice on it. So yes it is useful but not perfectly accurate.

I stopped using the app for about 6 months. Now when I try to analyze a KZbin video, I get a “video could not be processed” error. Any tips on how to fix it?
@PraiseTracksАй бұрын
My iOS devices are quite dated with the most powerful being the 1st generation iPad Pro 9.7 inch. I think a lot of the processing to recognize audio and chords needs a big chunk of memory. This memory is separate from the iOS storage memory, rather it is high speed memory that the processor is using. One thing is to make sure there are no other apps running in the background as they can take up this precious system memory. Thanks for watching.

Fenton, yes, you can do that. I just tried recording something with the Voice Memo app and then save it to the FILES and was able to bring that into Chord AI. You have access to the iOS FILES app so you can bring audio in from different sources, even cloud services. If it is just a melody I think it will try and guess the chords if it only hears a monophonic note instead of some type of accompanying chord from another instrument. There is also a way to activate the microphone directly on the app to capture live audio input. The new version can also convert audio to MIDI (although it is a little rough at times).
