Excellent review of the Serig 12. This is why Sony places such high emphasis on noise isolation and structural stability on high end audio Dac/Amps.

It's not really a review for it it's genuinely what I did to try and get a more focused cleaner sound. It definately helped that's for sure but I have moved things on since this video and videos for that will be coming soon

The puck on the Dave deffo gives Boz's voice more 'air' in the mix and slightly more width and separation.

Terry, you touched the critical areas. I would get rid of all your AV components and clean up the racks to lower all your equipment out of the center sound-pressure area. I can not believe that the massive aluminium frame holding the DAVE DAC can be any good for sound, can you not remove it and put the DAVE just plain on your Cera disks? I bet it will improve a lot. Do you have Preamp and Amp sitting on each other directly? Can not be good either? BTW, what kind of USB cable are you using from computer to JCat USB isolator and from USB isolator to your USB-SPDIF converter? Can that be now a weak link, as the DAVE may have higher resolution and showing the weak points more? Nevertheless, I think one can hear the better separation and clarity of the DAVE already very well. However, the Rob Watts DAC designs all sound very smooth/rounded, some would say "analog". I used to have his early designs under the brand name DPA and had 2 different models at the time. This was the time, where he synced the clocks of the CD-Drive with the clock of the DAC. Outstanding smooth sound at the time, not as the typical CD sound. But I have later build a DIY DAC with Burr Brown 1704K chips, which I think still today can give the best CD sound (16/44.1) when done correctly and the I/V converter is done well with proper linear power supply, and I mean real good linear power supply, not the tiny things you can buy today. And I think this is a weak side of the Chord DACs today, compared to the best DACs available. Sorry, just my 2cents... But I like the Chords ... as I use a Mojo to listen to your Ytube vids....;-)

I have several problems in here space lack of, time always tight and I have kids here that I need to keep products away from that limits me right now. I have already moved on past this to the next sound quality level and I didn't get there in a way I expected actually quite the opposite. Interesting learning curve of a product like this. With The JCAT USB Isolator I use the JCAT reference USB to the isolator - the dual cable and the JCAT ISO cable from the isolator to the Muted MC3+ USB. I am tempted to bypass the MUTEC and feed USB Straight into the DAVE that will be on the testing list of things for me to do. Not got that far yet though. As for the AV kit it would be better to take them away but I love Home Cinema and it's also a passion of mine so I would miss it too much and regret it.

Pursuit Perfect System I love Home Cinema as well and have my system set up the following: AV Receiver feeding the 4 surround channels and front and center via multichannel amp (Anthem P5 with 5x 385Watts/8ohm, you never can have enough power 😉). When I listen to stereo I connect my Chord DAC directly to the P5, bypassing the Preamp of the AV receiver, and just switching on the P5 amp the input from unbalanced to balanced. This is shortest and purest way, since the volume control in the DAC is of high quality. Don’t know is your amp has the possibility to switch inputs? BTW, there is a new kid on the way from JCAT - Signature USB coming soon....

that is interesting because I would not have seen this as a good idea because there is no dedicated pre amp However That is stage 2 of my Dave testing videos and it has really surprised me but I don't want to give that video away. I didn't know that about a new USB Cable from JCAT that's very interesting indeed thanks for letting me know

Need to try a PS Audio DirectStream Dac. The Dave is rather fugly and does not have the roon bridge.

For a product live Dave, it is too complicated to set up with external non Chord Amp. Why not simply just use the Chord Dave etude Amp with it.

I haven't got one, I am using it the same as anyone might do if they buy it. They will look to integrate it into their system then look to get the best sound from it they can. This is not the end of that journey it's just the start of it. I have already gone past this but haven't made videos yet. I will exaplin all that in update 2

Put de Dave on a normal audio rack,now its on a speaker,i know its not working but this is not good.So please buy a high-end rack,this is expensive gear and gonna react on anything,even if the sound is not worked out you got still good sound from it i think.

all the kit either side of it is on a HiFi rack podium reference and they all still sound better with isolation products under them :) Just wait for what's coming ;)

i told him many times he doesnt understand that speakers have powerful magnets and that dac are full of metals.. also he have a 6000$ luxman amp next to both speakers..

All the kit is surrounded by many powerful magnets, there is no difference in the distances away from the speakers to all the kit, yet it all sounds stella - so relax guys that is no reflection on the end result. In this instance its all about setup and you will see soon enough

I just watched this again because I made it quite a long time ago. This is not a review video this is a first impressions video as part of a whole series of videos forming a comprehensive review overall. I think for a first impressions video it's pretty comprehensive with an interesting a / b demo it. I appreciate your comments but I think they are a little harsh considering
