@Douglas Blake I would consider it’s intended application to be as such in principal for the sake of argument. In this case it would be equivalent to an open stub of coax. But given there is no control over the dielectric properties or dimensions, not to mention the housing is likely floating, it probably couples and passes a very tiny amount of HF RF components through the RJ-45 connector rather than where they claim it goes, which is magically dissipating in the wire inside. Never the less, even if it did have actual passive or active circuitry inside and it did present a low impedance to noise, it would still be useless even if it did quiet things down. The digital signal is differential and by design rejects noise.

A psychiatrists explained to me once in a very easy way how our cognitive works: Say you're walking in the streets and you notice there's a lot of different cars from many different manufacturers. The focus is ‘there's a lot of different cars.’ Later you decide you are going to buy a car. You decided on a specific car or maybe a specific colour of that car. Now walking the streets your focus will instead be set on that very model or colour, making you think that this car or colour is specifically popular. While in fact nothing has change other than your cognitive.

@cityoflights38082 жыл бұрын
Don’t give Danny any ideas…I can just see him offering a kit with “upgraded” “audio class” capacitors and resistors and wire connectors that costs more than the unit itself and requires rebuilding the entire pcb board. Like many of the speaker upgrade kits inexpensive or ancient speakers that cost much more than the speaker itself, sometimes speakers that are fine to amazing for their price point to begin with (Andrew jones pioneer and jbl 530 for example). Why people buy such things instead of just getting a different speaker boggles my mind. I have pair of cheap to begin with and now very old Mordaunt short ms30i with cheap as chips first order crossover and a bit of beaming as a result, but also pretty spectacular high e d imaging and sweet midrange on vocals. After all the woofer and tweeter were both designed to work well with a first order and the cabinet, As an experiment , I tried a few order crossovers at different crossover points (diy, decent parts) and guess what, the beaming was gone but so was the all the character of the speaker. Yes I have “better” measuring speakers, but what’s the point of having vintage and vintage-y stuff unless you enjoy them as they were designed. An old MG can be fun, no need to try and make it a Miata or Ferrari. If I want to listen to precise studio monitors or other better measuring speakers I have those too. …though I do have a pair of mirage MRm-1 that I would love a bit more if their center imaging weren’t so fuzzy (these are not omnipolat or bipolar types).

On the rca inputs on the amp i can feel the electricity running when lightly touching (small vibrations). After plugging in rca in amp to 3.5mm audio plug into laptop it seems less/gone. Is the laptop grounding the amp or am i placeboing myself? For proper grounding would it work to connect a wire from one of the rca inputs on the amp to the grounding metal on a grounded power outlet in a different room? So like using a modified grounded power plug with just the grounding wire used, terminating into rca on other end.

After this most recent round of reviews of “tweaks”, resamplers, power cords, cables and conditioners (plus other science based testing by Amir and others) , one can be pretty confident in the general inference that such products are worthless at best, and often make things worse. In fact what are great about Amir’s reviews of these items is he explains the failure of these products through scientific principles such that the results are applicable to the entire “class” or type of products (ie, not this expensive power cord but every power cord) and cannot be ascribed to be particular product or even one item or set up. Either the designers do not understand basic principles of electrical physics and acoustics, or they make engineering mistakes that are simply unacceptable at any price (see the Chord resampler) or they are cynically dishonest. But I realized that there are many who are just following the other crowd thinking their uniform messaging is the truth. They then watch or read my videos and realize that their doubt was real. And decide to change their views. Indeed this is why I continue to get products like this to test. Also, prior to purchasing these things, people perform searches and land on "reviews" that are basically informercials. They see all positive messages and think that is the consensus. It is important that in these searches, the counter point is also shown on equal footing, i.e. video. Finally, opinions are changing in audio. Every day more and more people put value on proof points about audio claims. That is happening because of continued testing like this where there is hard proof and not just an opinion that they don't work.

Also, sound Engineer, and for the past 7 years, i discovered a new Audio technology which i cant talk about much, patent pending, dealing with so called Snake Oil. I can basically manipulate sound at a much deeper level than the devices you measure and validate. Something which you would be puzzled, because it functions so well. However, i plan to capitalize on this, so can't say much more than that. Ok with my tests, i get similar results as you are getting. However, there is a way, i am able to observe changes in sound signature or improvements in sound besides using the golden trained experienced old ears, hehe. Ok, try using a middle preamp add on and a 16 ohm load between the output stage of your source and Null. It may suprise you, depending on the differences in signals etc. Alternatively same setup, record and view musical waveforms not electrical characteristics. Do a compare Analysis. You'll figure out the details, hehe... I had to figure out a way and scratched my head, it puzzled me, but in the end, I found the proof i needed to rule out PLACEBO.

@@alcamacho1844 There are plenty of EEs in audio with wrong ideas. After all, they are the ones designing equipment that so frequently shown to be non performant. So yes, let's not get into credentials that don't add value to the conversation. As to your claim about measurements, once more, this review included a null test. You claimed to easily here a difference. Yet mathematical comparison of the two files shows that is impossible. That conclusively suggest you need to revisit your assumptions about your knowledge and understanding of audio. Patent office accepts anything unique by the way. It doesn't mean there is anything valid there. Plenty of audio voodoo have patents behind them. But sure, come back when you have something to show. Until then, please don't make claims you can't back and insult me in the process as well.

Love how you flipped that script around, listen test first then note that some fussies care about measurements, so you provide them too ha! Blamm! Question, My Klipsch Forte IIs have 15" passive radiators, I was looking at adding a subwoofer, which made me wonder if the low end of the sub would drive the passives the wrong way, killing some of it's benefit.
@AudioScienceReview2 жыл бұрын
Personally for music, if I already have that much bass response, I would not bother with a sub. If you want to add one, then must measure the room response and get it to be even in bass. Otherwise you can have very boomy bass.
@johnsmith14742 жыл бұрын
@@AudioScienceReview - Does the sub drive the passive to any meaningful degree? Thanks!
@johnsmith14742 жыл бұрын
@Douglas Blake - "It can ... depending" is no more information than exists and is implied in my question, so thanks but that's unhelpful. I understand physics quite well (why I asked). The essence of my question is however, "... to any meaningful degree" ie "... in practical application." A boat may be leaky, but if it's inconsequentially small and you have the means to deal with an increase then sail on. To turn it around: there are a lot of well known best practices the hifi hobby but I've never seen a statement about subs used with passive radiators such as "Don't bother, it sucks." A 15" Klipsch sub goes far lower than the Forte II so the idea is enticing, but it may be impossible to achieve without muddiness across their low end overlap areas because the passive is so easily resonant, whereas a sealed box would have far less of an issue.

As I noted and strangely so, this is another Chord company than the one that makes DACs. This is called "Chord Company" and the other, "Chord Electronics."

It's interesting to note that Chord Co. have recently revived an old brand, English Electric. Their first product is *sigh* an "Audiophile" network switch. Sounds like from being a decent cable company they are taking a dive down the rabbit hole. It's a shame, as I said below, they do make sensibly priced, well constructed cables.

@Douglas Blake, no, not really. I would however personally never buy these kind of products. I think these kind of reviews are counter productive. I get a feeling they are made for pure entertainment for the already “enlightened” ones. It just enhances to polarization imho.

@Douglas Blake, I’m an engineer, dealing with high frequency signal transmission and processing on a daily basis, I kind of have a clue what could work and not. There is a lot of snake oil out there. My point was that it would be nice to see a focus on good stuff instead of the bad stuff.

My "fan base" are the ones that are sending these products in for testing. Many have doubts and once they see the analysis, change their opinion and realize they were just following the crowd. For sure there is an impact. Not on the hardcore, head in the sane people, but the rest which is quite large population sadly.

I see you have many reviews, but your results are all based on your mega-expensive analyzer, and interestingly... YOU NEVER DISAGREE WITH YOUR ANALYZER. From my perspective, your analyzer is the reviewer, and you are just an AUTOMATON, is that right? Your analyzer is YOUR GOD, and you are the Mesurements Jesus for the masses... Is that right?
@AudioScienceReview2 жыл бұрын
Are you a real person or just an automation? I ask because the review starts with listening tests and that is the core of it. Null test shows conclusively that this device made no difference -- to my ears or anyone else's. Next time please watch the review before commenting. Would save time for you and me.
