Opened for them at a festival and i was stunned at what they were able to reproduce live what I'd heard on their albums. Incredible band!

I was fortunate enough to be able to share the stage with them in Nashville about 15 years ago… By far one of the tightest, cleanest sounding live bands I have ever heard. They sounded as good or possibly even better than the records. Everything that the guitar player does is fantastic… Obviously he can play, but you can tell that he is there solely to serve the song structure. And their horn section did not have the intonation problems that most horn sections have. Not sure if it was just a good day or they are always like that, but they were watertight as a frogs butt.🤠 Thanks for a great video, Dave!

Let Me Go! Cake is awesome. Their tongue-in-cheek attitude belies their sophistication. One of my favorite bands.

I can't tell you how much I loved this video - I absolutely love CAKE and can't understand how underated they are - especially Greg Brown and his amzing guitar riffs. You play them so effortlessly (which is really annoying!!) - I could spend my life just learning those amazing guitar parts - more more more videos on CAKE please. Fantastic stuff mate.

Thanks for this, David. Been a fan of Cake for a long time. I love the "you don't have to be a virtuoso to write a great song." You can make things interesting in a lot of ways, as Cake proves. Hell of a rythym section , too. I feel no guilt for liking them a lot!

I LITERALLY just went on a Cake catalog journey earlier today... They have always been a guilty pleasure of mine as well! I heard them a couple times at the supermarket and had to Shazam it to see who it was and their name kept popping up. Hella original. Hella great! Thx for the videos, Dave.

This is my first time seeing one of your videos, and I enjoyed it. I gather you and I may not have much other music in common, but I love Cake so much, and you did them justice. The only quibble I would have is your calling them a "guilty pleasure." There's nothing guilty about enjoying music! And besides, I think their sound is deceptively simple. If it was easy to sound like them, and to put out several hit songs, a bunch of great albums, and maintain popularity over multiple decades, other bands would have done it. But absolutely no one sounds like Cake, and very few bands have maintained a following that still looks forward to their new music for that long. Here's hoping their long-promised seventh album gets finished someday soon!

The distance and short skirt/long jacket are the ones I heard on radio, awesome quirky mainstream indie out there all at all the same time. Thanks for this. Looks like I need to check all their songs. The are very Weezer like. Very open minded, as seen by them doing I will survive by Gloria Gaynor and also war pigs by black Sabbath. Very cool

David Brewster.... that blinking light on your amp is super annoying. I actually quit watching your lessons for 2 years because of it. I think you are the best instructor on You Tube, but that blinking tuning light just ruins it. Can you put a piece of Cloth over it, or use a Camera angle that doesn't show it? No matter how much I try to watch your hands, or listen, my eyes Always go back to that stupid blinking light.
