I met the singer & 2 ofthe guitar players in Vegas. I was there for my Bday @ Mandalay Bay and they played a show in Vegas. I ran into one of the guitar players (Kai) in the elevator & ended up hanging out w them by the pool for about 3 hours until they hadd to go to soundcheck. Got some great stories & pics, what a great show! Great band, very cool guys to me.

Dave, I was one of the guys wishing for Helloween (or Gamma Ray) about a week ago. This morning it felt almost like...well not Halloween... but Christmas when I saw your newest episode was about The Chords of Helloween :-) imo it's a great band worth looking into and I see now that you felt the same. Thank you so much!

One of my favorite bands from 80s...they sorta fell off my radar in mid 90s after Master of the Rings album. I did see them a few of years ago live & it was a great show, mostly playing tunes from KOTSK era. If I remember correctly, I think they opened with Eagle Fly Free. Nice to see LNL Chordplay on them!

Halloween is like a German version of Iron Maiden, except heavier. I'm glad you checked this band out. They have some incredible songs. Kia Hansen is an amazing guitar player. Mike Kiske is a killer vocalist. Even though they left the band years ago, they rejoined in 2018. Their set at Wacken is unbelievable. Love these guys. I was hooked the first time I saw the video of I want out. They keep getting better.

Funny, when you tell you are not really familiar with Helloween, it reminds me the difference in popularity in bands here in Europe and in the US. As a German band they were immensely popular in Europe (much more than Dokken for instance) and had a large number of offsprings like Blind Guardian or Edguy. For the record, in the "Walls of Jericho album, Kai Hansen (one of the 2 guitarists) is singing, but after it's Michael Kiske. Kai left after the Keeper of the Seven Keys albums and founded Gamma Ray. Michael Kiske left in 1993 and was replaced by Andi Deris.

Power Metal: Up-tempo, fast, lots of double bass drums, uplifting, positive lyrics. A lot of laymen confuse Power Metal with Speed Metal, but to me, they're two different animals.
@iganpparamarta88134 жыл бұрын
Please tell me the differences. IMO even the bands themselves don’t know what genre they’re playing. From your definition Helloween can be either speed or power metal band. Depending on which songs we listen to.
@mykecasper40264 жыл бұрын
Speed metal is like agent steel..anything with thrash beats and ripping vocals is speed metal...Flotsam, powermad ,Anthrax even tho the first two were power metal. Power metal is...Sanctuary,Leatherwolf...vicious rumors, Crimson Glory, 80s Riot,Apocrypha ,Savatage, metal church,King diamond, Lethal, obsession ,Angel Dust, Malice,Racer x,control denied and Helstar..there is more of course. This is killer 80s stuff .check it out

@@iganpparamarta8813 My description was primarily a generalization of the genre. Genres can overlap, for example; "Progressive Power Metal". A Google search can be very informative about the musical differences in metal genres and subgenres. Regards 🎸
