This is amazing! I had no idea video packs could receive touch input and send midi back to the OP-Z. This opens up a lot of possibilities for midi in that wouldn't be possible live without an external controller. For example, you could do a build up on the performance track OP-Z, then trigger the "drop's" pattern using your device.
@mochreach2 жыл бұрын
That's a cool idea, and it's totally feasible. It would be pretty straight forward to listen to the midi coming out the OP-Z and then send midi in response under certain conditions.

YESSS! We need more tutorials like this… this opens up so many possibilities. Until now I thought videopaks are a one way street, just receiving midi from the OP-Z. It would be great to get an overview of all the functions and inputs we can use in the Klak framework…

I just tried the videopack and I already love it a lot.!!! Thanks for making it 🙏 I hope you don't mind me mentioning a few things that could be improved... 1. I use it on an iPhone11 and the interface seems to be all over the place. 2. It would be nice to be able to trigger the chords from the keyboard itself. 3. Minor Detail: app design could be improved by using some BB STRATA or BRIC SANS font to make it look more in line with OP-Z's design language.

This is an amazing game changer. Thanks loads Mo. I have one question and if possible a feature request. Are triads and their inversions the only chord types possible. By that, what I am really asking is can this be modified to play four note chords? I was thinking about some of the neo-soul type chords for lofi music. Also I just saw the other video about the bending and the foam strips and double triggering. Fantastic! You should contact the "Free Beats" guy as he seemed genuinely depressed that his has become unusable. Thanks again matey. This is impressive.
@mochreach2 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, glad you like it! Yes, it's definitely possible to add 7 chords and other types, there are also lots of scales I could add. Hopefully I'll get round to it at some point in the near future! Regarding Free Beats, he's said in a couple of videos that he's tried fixing the double triggers with that method, but didn't have any success. Not sure why!
@DudeWithADrone2 жыл бұрын
@@mochreach that’s fantastic and you totally earned my sub. I was actually wondering the other day if a couple of sticky feet in the middle of the baseplate might prevent the OP-Z from curving. The baseplate should be bonded to 0.5mm stainless steel. Now that would keep it straight. I know a steel guy. Maybe I’ll make that happen.

Great video. The Locrian mode cracks me up. In order for the modal structure to be complete it "has" to exist. Its not exactly a playable scale. Its essentially the scrape pile of modes. Those notes weren't used anywhere else, they all sound like shit in relation to each other, but they're stitched together like Frankenstein's monster to create a dissonant, and unholy scale.
@mochreach2 жыл бұрын
Yup, the monks didn't use it as a choral mode but it's such an obvious omission! I definitely struggle to see a good use for it, I always accidentally end up in a different mode when I use it! 🤣

This is awesome! It would be amazing if there was an empty bank for programming your own set of chord voicings per project.
@mochreach2 жыл бұрын
That would be neat, unfortunately you wouldn't be able to store them after the app closes. As far as I'm aware, the only way that the videopak can store data is by reading the state of the encoders. So it is possible, but the saved chords would be temporary.
