In this video I go over some of my tips, tricks, and overall thought process behind arranging and mixing a track on the #opz by #teenageengineering. The OP-Z is such a powerful creative tool that actually has a lot more mixing capabilities than more people realize at first.

Finally got around to sitting down and watching this thing! I am extremely impressed, both by the techniques you use, the power of that candy bar (not meant in a derogatory way of course,) and the professional-quality video. You're inspiring me to want to do some videos. Great work, Davnak!

Thanks for sharing! I definitely need to utilize the filters more. I suspect I'm adding a lot of mud to my own pieces from all the delay & reverb I put on things. Also confirming that I need to use LFOs more.

Absolutely, they are your best friend when mixing. And I love the updates they have done to the LFOs

Me too! I’d be even happy with just a single variable band. Something to help with mud and whatnot.

@L Chopz Not that much. After Po33 the OpZ workflow is not that straight forward, could not switch completely. If I want to make quick sampling and the beat, again I am taking PO33. Using OpZ mostly for unts-unts-unts-unts like music, but the Novation Circuit does this better. So the use case for me is yet to be discovered..

Can you record the performance /patterns somehow to the iPad app so you can call it up and then makes changes live? So you can for example always have ten songs with you that you can perform live every being at a club but tweak different things each time? As in, do you save different projects on the iPad?

When it comes to the OP-Z and the app, my understanding is that nothing is stored or saved on the app (iPad or otherwise) at all. The app is simply an interface/screen to see information from the OP-Z. Now, if you are asking about putting the OP-Z in disk mode, and plugging it into the iPad like a USB drive to change out project files. The answer is yes… mostly. The iPad in general tends to struggle (in my experience) while file management on external drives. You need the Apple “Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter” and you need to be plugged into power, and “usually” when you put the OP-Z into disk mode and plug it in, it will show up in the iPad files app where you can edit files. This of course is file-based, not native or built into the OP-Z app, which is one of my biggest wish list items for TE to add. You’ll also have to take special care to keep track of your samples/sound plugs that are used on files you import, because there is no native way to make sure project samples are brought in with the project. Hope that helps!
