Has anyone ever gifted you a cool piece of gear? Comment!!!!

My friend Greg from Decadence guitars, that I never met in person before, gifted me a guitar that I have wanted for years. Then a few years later they gifted me a very high end industrial sewing machine. I make leather guitar straps & other leather items and this machine helped me a lot with this! I had to drive almost 10 hours round trip to pick up the sewing machine as it weighs as much as a car does. Wasn't able to ship it like the guitar that he did. But this way I finally got to meet him & his wonderful family!

My grandma inherited an accordion from her brother, and gave it to me, since I was the interested in music, playing the piano etc. Not the coolest at the time maybe, but I did get great use of it later. She also helped to get an old acoustic guitar repaired when I was showing interest in playing the guitar, she was a very nice and strong women, raising her children and running a farm alone after my grandfather died early. So in retrospect, the greatest gift was my grandmother ❤

Yeah I got gifted one of the last Jericho fusion 6 baritone in emerald green by a worker in the company and the head guy worked it out with me as a guide to send me a few T shirts. Also Devin's ocean machine is so freaking cool I want one so bad. Also that guitar is amazing I was hooked when I saw it.

@ I’ve had one Kiesel (a Holdsworth), and it was AMAZING. No beef with the products, just what I’ve heard of Jeff’s antagonism toward customers that seem to have legitimate concerns. There will be an issue once in a blue moon when you make that many guitars. You just have to make it right with humility. It’s the cost of doing business plus it will increase good will toward you and your company/products. Making the occasional flub right is the best advertising out there.

I've been a fan of Devin since he was singing for Steve Vai, all through the SYL & DTP years, and he's one of my favorite inspirations as a musician and a human. So, to be blunt, I'd probably shit myself inside-out in disbelief and happiness. 😂 That guitar is absolutely beautiful, and you put it to great use. 💙

That's an awesome guitar! Devin Townsend is a legend. As far as my own stories go, I commented on one of Trogly's videos that I was bummed about having missed out on the chance to get one of the High Performance Les Pauls while Gibson was still making them. Another viewer responded saying, "There's one on Gibson's Demo Shop on Reverb right now." I replied with, "No there isn't...'cause I bought it." 😆 It's been an excellent guitar, and I'm so glad the gentleman in question gave me the heads-up.

That's sick... Happy for you, very sweet and heartwarming on a dark January morning. I once played on gear that had belonged to Alan Holdsworth. That was something. Hearing those swells coming from the real deal, and it was me making them. It does something to a person. It's like getting to enter an exclusive world, and for me it still sits in my body, even though it's a couple years back.

That’s so wonderful ❤Devin is such beautiful being as you are too and that he gifted you with this guitar speaks volumes. My story of a guitar is that my musical partner just came up suddenly with a 1988 Charvel Jackson Model 6 in perfect condition. He said he’s so happy to listen to me playing this guitar and that he feels that it finally found its way to me. I’ve t say that I’ve always been a fan of this guitar but never mentioned this to him before. So that was a wonderful surprise and my two cents. I look forward to wonderful ambient guitar music from you an this beautiful gift.

Well! That is a recognition from professionals! It is an achievement too! And well, I remember you were presenting Mooer's Ocean Machine once. And yes, thanks to Devin too! For the guitar and his music in general! And well, I've never had Devin giving my name to Kiesel or, let's say - Framus... And, that's my fault, indeed. But, I have couple of guitars given to me as an alternative to being disposed. Both are actually still around. And even in use now and then. But, actually I have once wrote to one processor making company about one Internet musician using one of their product and... later on the musician got some more (not sure if it was a result of my message, still..) :)

The triple single combo in the bridge is seldom seen. The most notable example I can think of is the 1976 Ibanez 2663TC, sometimes referred to as the Steve Miller guitar. That guitar evolved into the short-lived 1978 Ibanez IC210/Greco M-800. Beautiful gift, so nice of Devin, and a very classy and respectful approach to offer the guitar.

My good friend had a vintage Ibanez (lawsuit era), I love those guitars, and I told him so. He was primarily a folk/acoustic player, and I tried to bribe him, I begged him, and offered trades, and he declined. Then he called me up because he had a wiring issue, and asked me to fix it for him. I recommended some practical reconfigurations, etc., and he said go for it, and I did. When it was finished, I called him up, and he asked me how much, I said I had like $10 in parts, but we could go for lunch. His response was a series of questions about performance, and tone. When his questions were satisfied he said: Keep it. It's yours. I'm actually crying right now. I love that guitar. It is one of 3 guitars I own (I gave the rest away to good homes). I play it all the time. It has been on hundreds of recordings. John Harris (Moondoggie) you are the best!
