You are such a joy to watch. You seem like such a gentleman too. Great teacher as well. I’m 70 later this year and finally, thanks to you and your channel I built my first pedalboard. I’m a beginner and have no interest in shredding or getting into a band so ambient guitar is very appealing to me. My pedalboard chain: Wampler compressor Boss overdrive/distortion EHX Mel 9 Earnie Ball volume pedal EHX Epitome (POG, electric mistress chorus and flanger and holy grail reverb) Strymon Dig EHX 360 looper

Excellent! The time indexes were very useful, although I watched the complete video. Thank you very much for sharing. Greetings from Mexico City.

Great video! I'd like to add a few things. First, tone choices at the beginning of your chain tend to carry through the rest. Therefore, work carefully at the beginning of the chain, to get better results further down. Second, the gear choices make big differences. Obviously guitar, amp, and even string choices have big effects. But the pedal choices themselves also contribute. Third, many of today's effects pedal allow multiple operation modes. For example, a delay pedal may offer digital, analog, and tape modes; a reverb pedal may offer spring, plate, and room settings. Typically there are tone differences between these as well. Fourth, and the most difficult to master, is the interaction within the chain, and between instruments. One great feature in your video is where you attempt to match the reverb tone with the straight guitar tone. That sort of interaction carries through other parts of the chain. Another great video point you mention is dialing back the bass when using a multi-guitar arrangement. Again, that points to interactions between the instruments. This, and your other videos, always give me great food for thought. None of what I'd add here does much good, if any, without the points you stress here. Thanks again.

Hey, love those country licks ya played startin' at the point where ya show us the different kind of picks. Ya might wanna consider doin' some country with ambient delay and reverb. I'd like to see that in a future video. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Bill; as usual, a lot of information in there for those of us playing (and learning) this style of guitar music. Every time you present something, I learn a few more nuggets of useful stuff. For instance in this video, I picked up a lot about "tone knobs." Like you said, I generally don't fuss with them; I set them at noon and forget it. But I'll pay attention more now. I am using my PRS SE 277 Baritone (solidbody), and the tone knob on that guy makes a huge difference in sound. Thanks for all you do......

Chords Of Orion I have 5 Kiesel guitars ranging from $1,300 to around $3,400. Great value no middle man. They all have dual carbon fiber rods in the neck and copper shielding in the cavities. Quality instruments at reasonable prices. Having said that the PRS SE line are wonderful instruments for under $1,000. Ditto for Epiphone. Just got an Epi LP Custom Pro made in Indonesia. It was only $679 (no case or gig bag). Gloss Black with gold hw. Flawless beauty and very light weight about 7 lbs. I thought the fretboard was Richlite because it was jet black and I didn’t see any wood grain. Since the specs say it’s ebony I contacted Epiphone and they said they never use Richlite and I looked closer in bright light and sure enough it’s wood.

As much as I look at pedal on this channel, I don't believe there are any specific pedal requirements to play ambient guitar. I say experiment with what you have and see what cool sounds you can produce.

I'm really surprise how you're into ambient music but you don't have none of Strymon's reverb pedals,but you have all of Strymon's delay pedals.I understand it's a personal preference ,but was just curious why you don't have them.
@chordsoforion

That's a good question. Since I record vs play this stuff out live, over the years, I have found it convenient to add reverb in the mix, which obviously is very flexible. It's really been just the last couple of years that I have started working with reverb pedals. I suspect that a Strymon reverb will make it's way into the fold at some point soon.

Yeah,you need to have that Strymon rverb it's the most realistic IMO,I have the Immerse,bluesky and BigSky I stack these three for different flavor and they're the best IMO.Timeline is my next purchase having already TC's Flashback Triple delay and Alter Ego X4.I am home studio guy and use my gear only for recording cause that's what I do.Cheers!
