They do sing live, but they often use a backing track. This time, they very well may have sung live during the taping, but the vocals we are hearing are all the normal studio recording. It doesn't take away from the amazing live dance performance. In fact, I much rather hear pre-recorded vocal in a high energy song like this than I would 100% out-of-breath live vocals.

The Lab dancers were SO SO important in keeping up BTS' energy and focus - they had been working with them in LA in preparation for the Kinetic Manifesto MV and needless to say, it was tiring for everybody, especially the members. In a behind the scenes for the MV, the members acknowledged the dancers keeping up their spirits and hyping them up and how much it was needed because the choreography was so difficult to the point of making them want to vomit when they first learned it. Another point of reference is the time stamp on the clock in the station - BTS did multiple takes of this performance (before rush hour in the wee hours in the morning), so yeah, they're exhausted, audience or not. And they did other location shoots for content on Jimmy Fallon's show, not just the "ON" performance. Busy, busy, busy.

I absolutely love The Lab. Just the 7 group members would have been good, but the amount of background dancers and the attention to detail from them on transitions and the amount of energy they brought makes this song 10x better

I love that you kept mentioning how they performed even when it’s without an actual audience in front of them. That was a very big hurdle they shared with us that they had to overcome and continue to not let weigh them down. They still held online concerts for us during the pandemic, but only seeing faces through a screen isn’t the same. Yet they stayed positive and persevered. Then they could finally hold safe, regulated, in person concerts in Korea- but the audience couldn’t scream or make noise. They expressed how difficult those conditions could still be, how they sympathized for the fans who couldn’t act as freely as they wanted, but nonetheless they were so grateful and still gave beyond their all. Out of all the people that get into them, i really do hope you get to see them in person (hell, maybe even work with them!). Very happy to have found your channel, you have such breath of fresh air takes and the notes you say just seem so genuine. Keep up the awesome work!

When the pandemic first happened I had to teach all of my students and even artist that I develop over zoom and it was very challenging bc its just not the same and then you have to find new ways of keeping interest bc of the fact that its through the screen and not in person. I love that BTS is so true and that they are also so empathetic to their fans. Thanks for the kind words too x0x0x0 and I would LOOOOOVVVVVE to work w them one day. lol

AND on top of all that they are singing live (with a backing track of course). BTS trained for 5 years before they even debuted. And KPop training is a whole different beast to anything here. These kids dedicate every waking moment to training for years. Jimin as said many times that he slept in the practice room and lived off 2-3 hours a night. Also there was originally a large pool of candidates, so the 7 that formed BTS were the best of the best so to speak. Every member takes the group very seriously and their relationship is something more then just family. They have a shared experience that is unique in the world and they grew up together existing in an intense reality. All the kpop bands work their butts off, the training is insane, most don't make it and those that do...work. They don't get married and have families, nor do they live like playboys/girls, they are idols. But BTS is special. BTS has something I can only define as a little bit of magic, and a whole lot of heart.

This is such an incredible performance and in the behind the scenes footage from it they actually did 3 or 4 run through of the performance to get the one that they liked the most and Jimmy Fallon made a comment that when he went to hug them he could feel their heartbeat they worked so hard. Incredible proud of them always💜

I love how the backup dancers are more like moving set-pieces, and when it comes to the dancing, BTS is the focus and they do all of the hardest parts themselves.

Yeess. This choreography is really hard. I remembered Jimmy Fallon said that after BTS perform and he hugged each member, he can clearly hear their heart beat in their backs.

I had my adult fangirl moment at one of my daughter's functions. A dad was saying how much his daughter loved BTS and I jumped in with a, "Me too!!" With no hesitation or shame!!! I've been ARMY for five years, and everyone at my school (I'm a teacher) knows they are my boys.

I’m glad you did this song. The MV is sick too!

When you mentio how they perform as an actual performance, you have to see their presentations during the pandemic. They always said it was tired because there were no cheering but they always give 150% to their performance wheter it's live or recorded

one of the backup dancers for this choreo IS the actual choreographer. she’s super young and a fan of BTS herself and has been a part of their permission to dance concerts in america along with the other dancers in this video. if you watch the practice video you can hear all the dancers hyping them up during that dance break and its genuinely such a powerful thing to see

This is the opening number with the same dancers from The Lab for their Permission to Dance concerts in LA (Nov-Dec 2021) and Vegas (the past 2 weekends) For the recent Seoul concerts they used local dancers. The Lab dancers also were in their 2022 Grammy number of Butter and in other songs in the LA/ Vegas concerts. ON was choreographed by then 19-yr old American Sienna Lalao who is now 21. She is the first person in the opening shot of the ON Kinetic manifesto MV that has this same choreography. Filmed at the LA River Sepulveda dam. Check it out. You would love the indoor dance practice & on location shooting sketch for it. 💜

The choreographer for this is sienna lalau, I believe she was only 19 here. She also worked with them for Dionysus (please watch the dance practice and a live performance of that one too!) and for Chicken Noodle Soup (a j-hope solo project). They recently got to reunite during the LA concerts when she and her dance group were on stage with them. Another thing you might enjoy is the 3j performance to megan thee stallion’s feature in butter - it’s just a minute long but amazing, choreographed by Nick Joseph. He’s also talked about how hard-working they are - the behind the scenes video shows them doing take after take to get it perfect, it looks exhausting honestly!

What’s amazing is that no one has ever shutdown Grand Central NYC for something like this. The behind the scenes video about this was super interesting. They had to rehearse it so many times that night. Watch the On Kinetic Manifesto as well.

Their dancers are who kept them hyped up when they didn’t have a regular audience. This video is a few years old now but the choreographer was 19 years old at the time. She’s a also one of the dancers in J-Hope’s “Chicken Noodle Soup” video, but not the choreographer.

And...they danced Full Out for 3 to 4 times to get the perfect performance to show on TV. This was the first time I ever saw them. I had never heard of them before. So obviously I was overwhelmed...in shock really... how amazing the performance was. This was on February 24, 2020. I have watched BTS content on KZbin every day since then. They still impress me. The Live "Butter" performance at the Grammy's. Just think if that was the first time someone saw them. They would be in shock too.
