Mia Wallace and Vincent Vega never won the dance trophy. They actually stole it. You can hear the radio news in the background when Butch goes back to get the watch as he's walking through the backalley. Pulp Fiction aficionado here.

In one dance scene so much is said with out a word being spoken. You can almost hear a dialogue in your head. So clever.

Thank you also for showing the filmic antecedents to the scene being studied! It is great to see the sources of inspiration for iconic scenes such as this.

I just want to know why John Travolta is so much more interesting to watch than a professional dancer. He looks so natural while a professional looks so stiff.
@thearchivist250Ай бұрын
I have idea other than John has a lightness on his feet that is rare. Like in Saturday Night Fever. It’s like he’s not even trying. I guess I would compare it to how Simone Biles makes the most difficult gymnastics moves easy.

I agree with everything these guys said except for the part about Vincent/JT “holding back” with his dancing. I think his dance style in this is more a reflection of his cool 😎 , calm demeanour. I love this scene so much, it is so iconic and will definitely go down in film history. They both look so beautiful and charismatic ❤️

I’ve heard others point out that their dancing reflects the drugs they’re on in the movie; she’s on cocaine so is all hyped up and he’s on heroin so grooving at like half her pace.

I think they are just overthinking this. Tarantino literally just asked them to dance and gave Uma and Travolta references like aristocats and Batman and they both were just being loose and dancing freely and we got that masterpiece scene. I mean people just want to sound like they are so smart and say a whole bunch of words, but it’s not that deep y’all…
@thehartofthegalexi84335 жыл бұрын
Hah, this was just on tv the other night and my siblings were all agreeing how great of a dance it is, and my poor mom just thinks it's awful. I should show her this to show her that her kids aren't insane.
