Your story is the same as mine. On October 3, 2002, I fell during class (while going to school to become a personal trainer and Nutritionist). I tried to tough it out, but in 2006, the pain was just too bad still, so I went to the doctors and he put me on a "pain management program." He didn't explain what could happen and that really makes me mad, even to this day. After over 4 years, I decided to quit, and it was horrible. I personally didn't ever get into Heroin, but I took any type of pain medication I could get my hands on, so I wouldn't go through withdrawals... Vicodin, Percs, Dilaudid, Morphine, etc. Long story short, I actually went to a pain specialist and now take Buprenorphine for long acting pain management. Yes, for those who will say it's still a medication close to pain pills, I know. But besides my herniated disc between L5/S1, I have severe Endometriosis (have tried different medications, birth controls, multiple surgeries, etc) and there's only so much pain I can endure. I've been on Buprenorphine for over 4 years now, and the dose has been the SAME since the start (unlike Percs, Vicodin, etc, when it always goes up). If people have legit pain and are trying to find something to help, I would recommend it. Europe has actually been using it for long acting pain management for years. I've literally gone from an average 7/10 on the pain scale to usually being a 1/2 and not feeling high, AND also not going through withdrawals anymore.
@goose75744 жыл бұрын
@@primitiveorganism9571 It sounds like you've personally been able to continue with a script, a lot of times, especially around 2010, many Doctors lowered scripts, and or took people off completely. It's usually those situations, where people DON'T feet the proper help to actually ween off the drugs, find the proper pain therapy, etc., and they are left to just fend for themselves.

That’s why its called “Rehab”. To rehabilitate. Change habits, A re-do. And no one said it was easy. But these ladies need to understand they are just steps away from a new, fresh start. All it takes is the bravery to get out of their own way to make that step in another direction and never look back. There are so many new medications to help ppl get and stay clean. Narcotics anonymous or counseling so they can meet others like themselves for support. That is what Tom is doing. He wants ppl to see the lives these women (and a few men) live. And to speak to them about their lives. And for only a moment that someone treats them like a human being, not a piece of fresh meat. I won’t ever give up helping. Had a buddy got on a bike accident, and was prescribed Percocet. He had a lot of pain on his knees and left hip aftermath from the accident, a car clipped him on the rear wheel. Doctors told him it was a miracle he was still alive with all the swelling and blood he lost. He was no pot head, no alcoholic, business man, but took the (pain killers) and swore by the results, almost rolling into a month taking them. Once he ran out was sick for two weeks. He was pissed off at the doctor for not giving him a heads up of what he was getting into. Fortunately he recognized he has developed dependency. He now tries to work the pain with therapy, acupuncture, diet, working out. It can happen real quick, and this was a friend of mine who never had done drugs, has a degree, kids, steady job, all it takes a wrong doctor and things can get ugly quick.

For anyone with mental health issues, pain meds are terrifying. I recently got prescribed an intense sleeping/pain relief pill (like, found in people who’ve OD’d intense) and the feeling was amazing, all my suffering went away for an hour or so before I slept, I’d be a ball of intense anxiety and then it would just fade and I felt amazing. I’ve always loved the feeling of pain meds. Recently the pill stopped working, and I’ve been anxious about how regularly I’d been prescribed it anyway because of long-term affects (there’s been some addict issues in my family and due to personal experiences I’m SO careful bc I know how easy it would be for me to go down that road) so I’ve stopped it, but it would be so easy to just keep getting it, to be taking more to get that feeling back, my doctor wouldn’t even notice until I had a problem, and that’s when you’d be onto harder stuff. It’s so easy for it to happen, so quickly you can slip. I hope everyone struggling can find proper help, because it’s disgusting how much people are left to fall through the cracks.
@annelily18832 жыл бұрын
It’s how I’ve always felt about Ambien. Before you fall asleep, you feel so incredible, and all the worries you’ve had all day melt away.. But you need more and more. I made the decision to stop taking them nightly, and only take them rarely, when I genuinely need them. But how easy it would be to continue, to move to something harder… Thank goodness I stopped. It’s so easy to slip into a bad habit that becomes life-threatening.

Anyone addicted to any drug has to be fed up with their own bullshit. Doing drugs, the lifestyle while on drugs, what all they go through to get the next bag. That's it THE INDIVIDUAL themselves has to WANT the change or else they will forever be there. 100% fact. Like the old saying... " you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink" in other words, you can force these/any addict to go into a "REHAB" but its worthless if they don't want the change & especially a waist of time and effort for every one involved during that process if that person... I am eternally grateful to a doctor who, when I came to her in an ER with an incredible pain and seven sleepless nights because of a tick bite on my stomach that became infected, gave me opioid based meds but warned me that I was to take them only for two days, and after that I had to switch to some other stuff that didn't work as well but also was much less addictive. When I took the opioid suddenly the pain went away, and I felt like I was floating on a pillow made out of clouds where everything was good and where every problem was solved. Since then I have seen how easy it is to get addicted, and I don't blame these poor people for their addictions. We as humans are simply no match for these drugs.

Yes, true, but very much easier said than done. It looks to me that most of the people interviewed freely admit and own the decision they made to start. It's very easy to start anything when one has no experience of it yet and I'm pretty sure it's self evident to everyone that that humans don't learn life from others telling them what not to do, we learn from personal experience.

Big Pharma isn’t to blame for every drug addict, it’s a personality type that lacks discipline and foresight thinking only about immediate dopamine production in the brain without thinking of the future consequences. These people are victims of bad choices. After the Vietnam war the vast majority of US soldiers who were using heroin in Vietnam discontinued usage as soon as they made it back to the USA. The smaller percentage became full fledged addicts. It’s a certain type that continues to use. Not every person that is prescribed a pain killer from a doctor turns into an addict. I love to eat pain killers from the doctor too, the few times I’ve been prescribed them. I’m not about to purchase any off the street, because I understand the reprocessing of starting such an endeavor, and so do most other people.

@@brandongibson5220 you are right...and wrong. These decisions are seldom conscious decisions made through rational thought. They are usually made subconsciously out of sheer desperation or some other trauma. Yes, it doesn't happen to all people, and yes it's about the differences in people. To say though, that's it's from a lack of discipline is wrong. There are many disciplined people who also fall prey to drugs. On the pain killers... When some people are prescribed powerful sedatives or pain killers, it's often an ongoing treatment because not everyone can afford the cost of surgery or other treatments so they are stuck on pills for years. That's how people become dependant on pharmaceuticals. Some people just don't have the choices others do.
@thisaintmuhname15793 жыл бұрын
@Matthew Muise I agree with you. If a person has never been physically addicted to something then they really can't speak about it with any knowledge. It's a nightmare. I think Drs that prescribe opioid pain pills have a responsibility to explain how addictive they are. And I mean really explain it. I've been prescribed pain pills for pain that I would have rather dealt with by taking otc pain medication rather than going through the withdrawals of not having the opioids that Drs just cut you off from with no warning or concern about the hell you're about to go through unless you go spend money you ain't got to get shit off the street so you can just feel normal, not high, just normal. I don't care how strong willed a person is, nobody wants to shit their pants, and go through the mental hell you're guaranteed to go through. The aches and pains the insomnia. There's not a single part of your body that isn't affected during withdrawals.

Im a weed guy,had never ever bothered to use opioids if it werent for that I got a stroke as a 20y.o,then cluster head ache and 2 neuropathic pain,facial neuralgia,in my freaking face too. I got of the H when I got put on opids for the rest of my freaking like do to that shit as MMJ is a hard option to get,still. I grow my own weed,smoke more use less opioids. But I use em as pain killers not to get high. Same when i used smak. Just ,I did much cuz a lot of pains. Ffs,I get 980mg morphine equilant now and vask then I was on,like 3.5-4gr pure morphine equilant,mening same doses as a certain morphine IV dose is. But hell if I want that hell on my worst enemy. Nor the damn pains. I got opioids cuz the doc thought I was too suicidal and homicidal cuz of pains if I was w/o any pain killer,wich he was right on too,thus he did not let me out of the hospital until I was dosed down enough to be normal. See,rarely been high last 10yrs either so thats also ok Call me mad,but to me addiction us using 13-19 diffrent medication or substances every Day and get so fucked it taked 2.5yrs to come down from it. H helped me do that and b4 I was medicated the pain doc,anesthesiolog,if I had chosen to start use H I had been dead 13 yrs ago. H save my life or it kept me from killing myself as I had tried in diffrent ways but never finishen cuz it was pain taking. H is a safer choice I thought and it Kent me alive until I got diagnoded and medicated . Have no conract w crimenal or my past life now. Addiction is fundamentally a memory disorder. On a subconscious level, an addict is always chasing their first high. Even though time & time again that hasn't happened again, all the addict has a grasp of is that initial high, and subsequent use is an endless pursuit of the same (i.e. the first high).

I’ve had so many friends that had everything the world by the balls, beautiful wife kids houses cars and lose it all in 6 8 months.some never touched pills until they got injured then it was all downhill from there.im thankful I got out of it when I did, it took 15 years but I made it.she can too but u gotta be ready and want it for yourself

Anyone can quit. One has to have will power. People say "i can't" but anyone CAN quit but if you don't really want to you won't but just keep saying "I can" instead of "I can't". @cduby14245 жыл бұрын
Stephen Loflin so true they mix the cocaine with the heroin, It's like the heroin is the home drug and the crack plays off that. Some people mix benzos with their mixture those are the ones that stop breathing.

Yes its true. I use to be an addict and basically the opiate was the "must have" drug or the main drug (the drug you need to be well and feel normal) and the stimulant was when you have money left over or you feel bored(or wanted to get high as the opiate doesn't really get you "high" when your addicted, it just makes you feel normal). Not much crack in my country, but i would do the same thing with amphetamine. Then ofcoarse i would take a bunch of benzos while coming off the stimulants(or when i just wanted to get fucked up also). The worst was when i would take a bunch of xanax while on the speed and opiates. I was like a zombie when i took all of them. Its a vicious cycle and leads nowhere (exept maybe prison and death), i am happy that i am now clean.

Is there any new info on Amanda since she was hospitalized? How she's recovering, if she's been discharged to a respite center or somewhere else? And if her attacker has been caught yet? I'm praying daily that POS never ever gets his hands on another girl again and that he gets caught ASAP... There had to have been some kind of DNA evidence left at the scene or on Amanda's body, maybe under her nails, or some of his hair, at least something identifiable!.. Even just some of his fingerprints at the bando... I cannot understand how after committing such a vicious and really sloppy attack the guy up and left without absolutely any traces and just disappear, SMH. TBH I'm really worried that the police didn't do their job with her, just assumed it was related to a homeless addict/sex worker and didn't bother to follow up with a basic forensic investigation.. The whole thing is really upsetting and just doesn't make sense. Anyway, I remember one of the girls (cannot remember which interview) said that Coco had also been attacked and was stabbed, but that she had survived.. Which is another very scary thing.. So an update on the two of them would be amazing! I hope both girls are doing alright, and that Amanda is being taken care of somewhere. My heart just breaks for everything that girl has had to endure.. No one should have to go through the suffering she has, bless her heart.

I was in the boyfriend's position. My girl and I were using and homeless. Things felt hopeless for me. I found God and through him I've been clean and sober for 5 years now and my life has never been better. Now I'm a good influence on my children and the dad they deserve all thanks to christ.
