For anyone watching this video... this is a restoration! A restoration is not changing the use of the piece, it is not painting the piece to cover up damage. A restoration is returning the piece to its original functionality, to its original appearance, as much as possible. Absolutely wonderful work done here! Beautiful and high quality crafts!

Wie immer ein tolles Ergebnis, auch wenn ich bei dem Holz davon ausgehe, dass das Schränkchen nach der Fertigung farbig gefasst werden sollte und die weiteren Lackschichten erst später kamen. Heute finde ich die Naturholz Optik zeitgemäßer. Immer wieder überraschend, was man doch aus Sperrmüll noch upcylen kann. Auch super, dass die originalen Griffe noch vorhanden sind. Danke für das Video.

Ich gehe davon aus, dass die Knäufe/Griffe sogar aus Elfenbein gedrechselt wurden; damals, in der Originalzeit gab es noch keine Kunststoffe.

​@@biancametz482Die Form des Möbels, die Beschläge und anderes bringen den Schrank ins Art Déco. Da gab es durchaus schon die ersten Kunststoffe, wie Bakelit. Elfenbein Knöpfe kamen nur an sehr hochwertige Einzelmöbel, nicht an Serienmöbel aus der Fabrik.

This furniture was probably painted from factory. Judging by the joinery and the door it's not particularly well made but it got character. great restoration job to a prefab state!

I really don't know why people are so insistent on covering up, natural timber. It's such a shame because it has its own charm and beauty which, in this case, is hidden under 3 layers of paint. Die Oberfläche ist wieder so eine Geschmackssache. Das Holz der Tür vom Schrank, passt nicht zur Maserung der Schubfächer. Der Versuch der Restaurierung, aus der Vergangenheit, wurde meiner Meinung nach, nur mit halben Herzen gemacht. Die knalligen Farben, zeugen von einer versuchten Restaurierung in den 70er, 80er Jahren. Insgesamt aber eine super handwerkliche Leistung. Danke und Daumen 👍👍

Wenn man Löcher füllen muss, aber eine Massivholz-Optik hinterher durch Leinöl oder Wachs anfeuern möchte, finde ich es viel hübscher, direkt einen Kontrast hereinzusetzen. Spannend wäre mal etwas mit Wachs, Epoxy oder Dübeln aus Kontrastholz oder eben ein Finish mit Beize und/oder dunklem Schellack.

Hallo!. Ich habe schon einige Ihrer tollen Videos gesehen und wollte Sie kurz um Rat fragen: Undzwar habe ich eine antiken Louis-Philippe Sekretär um 1860 gekauft. Alles funktioniert recht gut, nur funktioniert das Schloss der kleinen Tür im inneren nicht, hinter der man Briefe und sowas verstauen und einschließen kann. Der Schlüssel lässt sich nur nach Rechts drehen, aber nach Links scheint es zu klemmen, es sieht recht rostig aus und dieser Klotz der die Tür ja schließt geht auch nicht ganz ins Schloss hinein. Wenn Sie mir helfen könnten, wäre ich sehr dankbar! Liebe Grüße!

Hallo. ich würde das Schloss 2-3 mal mit WD40 einsprühen. Das ist ein Rostlöser. Meist funktioniert es dann schon. Ansonsten, danach noch mit Liqui Moly (Multi-Spray Plus 7 oder Ballistol. Das sind Schmiermittel. Grüße

Yes, that would be it. But it stinks terribly. And you should use a mask with the right filter because of toxic fumes

Du machst tolle Sachen! In diesem Fall hätte ich die Griffe allerdings durch andere ersetzt, sie passen überhaupt nicht zu naturbelassenem Holz. Sofern die Griffe ab Werk dran waren, dürfte das Möbel auch ab Werk lackiert gewesen sein. Aber das ist natürlich eine Geschmacksfrage.

I love that u rescued this from under 3 coats of paint 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 But I’m curious, the wood here has turned out quite yellow; & while I understand that this is probably its natural coloring, is this yellow looking wood popular in your market? I ask this because I notice a big swing to naturally darker woods & if they’re not naturally dark, then they’re stained a bit darker to take the yellow out of the look of it! Does your market not like the darker woods?
