What do you think about LeBron's Statistical achievements?
@CareFreeCommuting
@CareFreeCommuting 6 жыл бұрын
First Things First: Cris Carter and Nick Wright I think what Nick is missing with the stats and numbers could be this, when Jordan first retired (because he did) it was ok with people because they already recognized him as the greatest basketball player to step on a court...after ONLY 3 rings!!! The fact that he came back after dealing with the boredom of destroying the NBA, and added 3 more rings, just deified him forever as the greatest. Bron will always be great, but never be the greatest.

They are one of the many pieces to the puzzle that puts him squarely in the discussion of great of all time. Someone who says LBJ is hands down best ever or someone who says MJ is hands down the best ever are two arguments I avoid listening to as they are extremes. Neither player is cut and dry ahead of the other.
@brianlakeberg1768
@brianlakeberg1768 6 жыл бұрын
Neal - Your take sounds biased and LBJ would be able to guard MJ better today than MJ would be able to guard LBJ in his day. Best point to be made is LBJ is playing against 5 players of MJ's athleticism on every team - MJ came in era where players weren't nearly as athletic or skilled as they are today. The 7 footers argument? Outside of shaq who was truly dominant? Dominating players put up 25+ points and 12+ rebounds/assists combined... news flash... more players do that today by a landslide than when MJ played
@revealingtruth3329
@revealingtruth3329 6 жыл бұрын
Neal Not true. If he gets to 5 rings he better than. Maybe only 4 bcuz Mike......NEVER.....EVER had to face a team like the Warriors. So if Lebron beats this Warriors team that may put him above Mike already bcuz Mike never had to do as much on the court as Lebron does......and he can't do as much on the court as Lebron can cuz Lebron is a better all-around player

Vini F Chris point has a lot of holes in it though. He keep talking championships but keep forgetting its a team sports. MJ team was never the underdog in the finals cause he had the best all around team each year. You can't say the same for LBJ. I believe he had 2 of the bottom coaches that ever reached the finals in NBA history. With coach Black & Ty Lue.

Before MJ Phil Jackson was not "nothing". He won a ring as a coach in the CBA. He also won 5 more *AFTER* MJ. But of course MJ fans look for excuses for that too. Notice that neither MJ, or Kobe ever won without Phil? Remember when MJ threatened to retire if the Bulls didn't bring back Phil? MJ knew the truth...he couldn't win without Phil. Chris lost this argument when he started going with "rings" (a team accomplishment) over "stats" (an individual accomplishment). He also got caught making excuses for the Bulls losing in 95. MJ had better numbers in that playoff run than he had in 96 when they got Rodman and won the title. The real truth is that MJ needed that 3rd star to win. I notice Chris left out that Grant was hurt in 96 when the Bulls beat them. MJ fans usually leave out stuff like that to say "MJ beat Shaq".

The whole reason I said this years ago was to prove how LeBron fans are hypocritical because when its LeBron vs Jordan LeBron fans will scream stats 24-7 & NOT MENTION team success much because Jordan had more team success...... But when its LeBron vs Westbrook they stop talking about stats & talk about team success because Westbrook has the better points rebounds & assist stats..... So WHICH ONE do y'all really believe???? someone please remind Broussard that he had Lebron as the 2nd greatest ever almost 5 years ago....since than what did Lebron do to possibly eclipse Jordan in Broussard's eyes? I don't know, he only had: - Finished 2nd in 2018 MVP voting, he should have won it over Harden - the single greatest playoff run anyone ever had in 2018 (34/9/9 on 54%) and dragged that Cavs team to the Finals where he played his most complete game ever in Game 1 of the Finals just to get it cheated away by the refs ( not to mention Hill and JR) - finished 2nd in the 2020 MVP voting behind Giannis where he should have won it, won the title in 2020 and FMVP as well with averages of 30 pts/12 reb/8.5 ast on 59% fg% and 67TS%, he only needed 2 points to lead EVERYONE in the whole playoffs in Total Points/Rebounds and Assists....at 35 in his 17th!!! season.... - in his 19th season he averaged 30 and in his 20th season he is still averaging 30 and is considered a lock Top 10 player (rather Top 5-6 still) - he is about to break Kareem scoring record with ease while playing 150 games left and shooting more than 1000 less FGA But I believe in 2018 February the gap between the 2nd and 1st greatest player ever was so huge still, that these past 5 years from Lebron are still not enough to even make it a valid conversation, let alone to just finally simply give in the stop pushing the media propaganda/agenda.... Lebron is 1 of 1

Connor R. Smith Jordan not only led PER, but did it against better competition. Jordan had 20 wins in the playoffs against 50+ win teams vs LeBrons 10. Jordan had 9 more scoring titles, 1 more MVP, 1 more defensive POY, led the league in steals 3 times, etc etc. Jordan also wasn't swept in the Finals twice nor did he suffer the worst Finals defeat in NBA history (2014 Spurs vs Miami). Jordan was also never part of one of the worst defensive teams in the league either (2017-2018 Cavs were 29th). I could go on and on. Jordan is the goat and it's not even close.

This guy said Jordan quit twice (retired). He didnt say anything about the reports of Lebron quiting on his team twice. Once against Boston in his first go around with Cleveland and this year he basically quit so he can get different players. Now that he got new players he's going hard. I never heard about the best player in the world not playing hard because he dont like his teammates.

Because claiming LeBron never lost in the playoffs is not an argument that LeBron proponents use. The Jordan proponents are the ones who use the argument of 6-0 in the Finals and allude to the idea of him being undefeated. The narrative of his "coming-of-age" is exaggerated. The reality was that the Celtics, Lakers, and Pistons aged out and Scottie Pippen developed into a better player. Personally, and I would hope most people would agree, I believe if the Bird-McHale-Parish Celtics and Showtime Lakers were still at their peak in the early 90s, MJ's Bulls with a primed Pippen alongside a prime Jordan would still have lost to them. None of that is to say that LeBron is better than Jordan. Or that Magic and Bird were better than Jordan. But simply that the argument of 6-0 is a flawed one just as it would be flawed to say Bird is better than Jordan because his Celtics beat Jordan's Bulls. The '95 Orlando series is just one piece of evidence used to demonstrate that, though given the context of his late season return, it is fair to say it's not the best example . It's true that the best players can make an enormous impact in basketball, but it's still a team sport and the other 4 players on the court (and the players off the bench) are still a huge part in determining which teams win games. Most of the time, LeBron, Jordan, Bird, etc. aren't even on the court for 10-20% of the game since they usually play 40-44 out of a possible 48 minutes in the playoffs. Chamberlain was really the only guy to just routinely play entire games without a backup giving him rest. So to evaluate these players individually based on the outcome of those games is a highly flawed approach. Personally, I believe Jordan is better than LeBron. But it has nothing to do with the championships or winning. The sport is about winning, but the sport is a team sport and those are team accomplishments. As Broussard said, if it's a discussion about longevity, LeBron is going to be better than Jordan. Kareem is already better than Jordan. You could even make a strong case that Karl Malone is better than Jordan, given that he's the second all-time leading scorer, has more points than Jordan, more rebounds than Jordan, more blocks than Jordan, more All-NBA selections than Jordan, nearly as many assists, and was putting up 21-8-5 at age 39. But while longevity is both admirable and impressive, I don't think many of us are truly concerned with which player was better when they were each 37 or which player was better when they were both rookies. Generally, I think the point is to determine who was better when each player was at their best. Broussard and other Jordan advocates often tout that "it's not just about the numbers", which is peculiar to me because the numbers are actually in Jordan's favor. If you look at their numbers in their respective primes, Jordan's numbers are slightly superior to LeBron's in both the regular season and postseason. Jordan was still a phenomenal player in the second threepeat, but he was declining and that threepeat was largely based on how stacked the team was, in both offensive and defensive capability. Jordan's early years ('86-'87 through '92-'93, the first threepeat and retirement), better demonstrate what he was capable of as an individual player. 30.4 PER and 33.2pts-6.0asts-6.4rebs-2.8stls-1.0blks on 59.0% TS% over those 7 seasons. LeBron James is no slouch though and Jordan's numbers edge his out by the slimmest of margins, so it is certainly a legitimate debate when you try to account for the context and differences in era. For example, LeBron's competing in a more talented and physically gifted league with the expansion of the game internationally, evolution of the sport and players in general, and the ample time given for the expansion franchises to build themselves up. Though it is a league in which fouls are also awarded more easily. There are many differences in eras, and ones that favor both sides of the argument. In a similar fashion, there is a very strong argument for Wilt Chamberlain in this discussion, who is usually disregarded due to a relative lack of team success and some overblown myths about both his competition and his own character.

Pistons didnt age, they were all under 30 when Bulls annihilated them. And it wasnt as if they easily went past the Bulls in previous years. In fact the real NBA Finals in both 1989 and 1990 were against the Bulls, since they literally swept everybody else both years just missing a single game against Portland. Only thing Jordan needed from his team was some consistency which they were able to provide once they got past the point where they were rookies and sophomores. We are talking about an 8 players deep Pistons' team, coached by Chuck Daly and Jordan matched them with undevelopped players. Once they grew into their own, he swept them. Bulls were not even supposed to get over Lenny Wilkens' Cavs, a deep team that played greatbasketball. Long story short, Jordan's career individually was one of consistent excellence (who's gonna best the league at anything 10 years straight?, who's gonna be leading scorer and leader in steals for consecutive years? who's gonna win leading scorer, leading in steals,DPOY,dunk contest and all star mvp all in the same year?) and team wise he either overachieved or at least achieved what was expected of his team.

One thing Michael DEFINATELY had over LBJ was he always played on better teams than LBJ. Chicago was the favorite to win every time in the finals. Not the case with LBJ. Also Chicago was a stacked team in an expansion era. Name the players who guarded MJ? MANY TALK ABOUT THE GREAT centers MJ had to play against. I don't think centers guard shooting guards? Those centers were great but much slower than any of the guards. It shouldn't be held against a great player if they played on an inferior team, and many did. Chris says that it's automatic for a LBJ lead team to make it out of the east and says it was that way for the whole league for MJ. That in and of itself showed how watered down the whole league had become following Magic & Bird. Just remember MJ didn't win till Bird retired and he didn't win without Pippen one of the greatest defenders of all time. Then they added one of the greatest rebounder of all time, who did the job on one of the most dominant centers(Shaq)of all time in a playoff series. So other than Jordan being a ball hog, no defenders in the league at his position, playing with one of the greatest defenders of all time, and one of the greatest rebounder defenders of all time and one of the greatest 3pt shooters of all time and one of the greatest coaches of all time and playing in a post Magic/Bird watered down era, then yes Jordan is the greatest and His untouchable myth continues to grow every year.

LeBron is a better all-around player but MJ is a better individual player. Also MJ didn't necessarily has a better all around team. Pippen? Wade wasn't any less. People act like Bron got scrub teams but when he won, he always had multiple allstars on the same team. The big difference is MJ played in a system, while Lebron IS the system (that alone is a compliment instead of something to knock on Bron) but it's a fact that the rest of the team, including allstars teammates didnt perform to their fullest strength because there wasn't a system aside from the one named LeBron. It keeps going on and on, they're not allstars, they rely on Bron, they ditch them after a while and chase other stars....etc. SMH

What better all around team are you talking about? What in gods good name do these people talk about? Player for player, both three peat Bulls were INFERIOR to a lot of teams. It was Jordans' presence that made'em a dynasty. And I am not even talking about the 8 players deep Pistons who had monster players coming from the bench. Lenny Wilkens' Cavs were a great great basketball team. The 1992 Blazers were deeper than the Bulls and more athletic. The 1993 Suns had a MONSTER roster, second unit that would be starters all over the league. In 1996 you had Orlando with Shaq, Penny and CO, you had Kemp and Payton, in 1997 and 1998 you had a much deeper and younger Indiana team and of course Utah. Heck, Miami with Alonzo and Tim Hardaway and Pat Reily on the bench was a solid team. You've got idiots naming Pippen as an equal to Wade. Pippen was never a franchise material player, and offensively he couldnt carry a team. The "Wade" of the league back then in SF position was Dominique Wilkins. Rodman was a bona fide role player, couldnt score to save his life and played from age 35 to 38!!!! for the Bulls. To get a glimpse of what we are talking about, the idiocy of this comparison, the during their second three peat, Bulls went up against the two arguably best PFs of the league, Shawn Kemp and Karl Malone and their answer was ....Rodman. Jordan received the least amount of offensive help a supportin cast has provided during the 1997, a series where he also played a game on the verge of ER. Fast forward 20 years, you had Kyrie Irving averaging more points than Curry in both the 2016 and 2017 NBA Finals. In fact he averaged the most points a second scorer has averaged in the history of the Finals both times. Heck, you had Kevin Love with limited touched averaging more than Pippen did. If Jordan had half the star power the NBA has surrounded Lebrun with, he'd retire with 15 consecutive titles.

It's not just great centers in the Finals, it's the lack of great teams period. The "physical" defense thing is exaggerated because nobody was athletic ally equal to Jordan. Lebron is in a much more equitable era of athleticism and he can't even be wrapped up on fouls because he still makes them at a significant clip: Don't tell me that physical defense in idk was something that bothered Jordan. The physicality also HELPED Jordan as a defender for the same reasons. So his legacy is inflated in many respects: Historical context dictates that he loses whenever his team isn't #1 in the league while having inferior Finals competition vs Lebron winning while never having the benefit of a #1 team against superior-to-equal Finals competition (also never having a hall-of-fame, which is common to every other great). Alongside the superiority in terms of actual basketball skill, Jordan is the lesser of the two.
@blanktrigger8863
@blanktrigger8863 6 жыл бұрын
(Also, Jordan is not the better post player. Lebron has head fakes, upfakes, pump fakes, post spins, drop steps, up-and-unders, etc and all are at an elite level. So much so that he destroys players regarded as elite-to-high level defenders like Leonard and Butler in the post whenever he decides to score that way, and in an era where they can match his athleticism.)

It’s not about who the “best” player is, because that’s impossible to measure, but who was the GREATEST. Jordan has the stats, individual and team dominance, and a perfect finals record. Never folded in big moments and his aura was just something else. He just owned the 90s. The reason why people think that there was no competition back then was because Jordan shut them down before they could make headlines. Maybe Lebron is a better ball player, and he should be with 30 years of advancements in sports training and medicine, but Jordan was the GOAT. Lebron is definitely top 3 tho with Kareem

When good coaches play against him they can game plan against him better because the offense only works when hes on ball. If you give any player on that list the Miami team they wouldnt crumble to the Mavs.

Lol yea shoots 25 shots for once. He usually only takes around 15 to 20 and still averaging 27 points a game. If he were to take 25 to 30 shots every night like Durant or Westbrook he’d win scoring title every year.

That makes absolutely no sense. MJ is universally considered to be the GOAT. LeBron wants to become the GOAT, meaning he is chasing Jordan for that honor. He never said he wanted to "be like Mike", and his game is not really similar to MJ's. In other words he wants to supplant MJ as the GOAT with a different style of play. And he IS one of a kind. We've NEVER seen a player that can score like MJ and run an offense like Magic. Broussard is right in that LeBron is essentially 50/50 MJ/Magic, and he displays the best aspects of each of their games.

kbdemonbain He's a clown, that fool only wants to be compared to Mike when he's winning. Remember when they won in 2016? After that he was all "I'm chasing the ghost in Chicago"...then he loses last yr and he says "it's just basketball"... He can keep chasing but that ship has sailed, the pro LBJ media are the only ones trying to push this bc it brings in views, they did it with Kobe before he retired as well.

What defines the GOAT? Stats? - LeBron (eventually) Championships? - Bill Russell (Played in an era where there wasn’t a LOT of all stars and lack of, ahem, “pigmentation”) MVPs? - Kareem Conduct on/off the field? - LeBron (doing a LOT w/kids, I respect that) How they played the game? - ??? (What do you value, handles, scoring, ferocity? What?) No one can answer that. Once THAT is determined, then we can say who is the GOAT. Look, I’m a hard working man (work with my hands/in the field), and I prefer working outside. No offense to those that ride a cush desk job, but that’s how I compare Jordan/LeBron. Jordan came up in an era where you had to “Work” for your stats (getting beat up, struggling to make points, basically having to literally “Lace Up”) before every game because the opposing team wanting to hurt you, versus this new era “Babified/Preppy” where everything is handed to you (i.e. the lane) because players (other than Zaza) are scared to foul because of the $50K fine (exaggerated of course) and ejection they would face if they were to “D Up” a player from this new league. Look at it this way, Jordan was from the “Ghetto” and LeBron is from the “Suburbs” and they both were applying for an internship to Yale. As for as how LeBron has endured, really? Really Nick? Dude spends $1M on a dietary plan/sleeps in a “Time Machine”, does Yoga, etc, while Jordan was just lifting weights to handle the Patrick Ewing’s/Charles Barkley’s of the league. And again, dude has NEVER been injured, not because of his great endurance or fitness but because this is a “Defenseless” league. I’m not taking away from LeBrons achievements (congratulations to him) but we ALL have to admit that it wasn’t the same “Road” that Jordan, Kobe had to endure to get this points.
