Curry in 2016 vs Tragic Johnson. Or 2011 Lebron. Or MJ when he lost to the original big 3 or the pistons. They hold a finals with an injured curry, injured Bogut, suspended draymond green and iggy had an injured back so he was like 80%, and exhausted team coming off of a 73-9 season and a 3-1 comeback in the previous round. Of course they weren't winning against, the at minimum, 3rd best player to ever step onto the hardwood.

Counting stats aren't that impressive to me. Lebron had lots of ppg, assists , rebounds in 2015 finals. Fact is he was ineffecient. Shooting 15 -34 in game 5 for 40 points and 13 - 33 in game 6 for 32 points thats 42%. No ball movement everyone standing around watching Lebron dribble it for 20 seconds of the shot clock. Great players are going to score and put up stats if they have the ball the entire game. Great defenders can only slow them down. Iggy played great defense on Lebron and picked up his scoring a lot.

@@rangerRick9895 You're absolutely right. The 2014 and 2015 finals both demonstrated how easy it is to not properly contextualize stats when you've got an agenda to push. In 2014 LeBron was more efficient because they got blown out and he scored easy buckets in garbage time when the defense was lax. But after the first two games and the games were competitive, Kawhi did a great job on him. You just have to look at the one on one stats like they've shown for Kawhi versus Giannis these playoffs.

I would really like to understand how in a game of 5 on 5 basketball the most important player to a team winning is NOT the best player... Forget all these cute counting stats, this game is about winning. And most of these analysts agree that if it was Steph that got injured instead of KD, they wouldn't have even made it this far. It was amazing enough that they were up 3-1 with Curry obviously being out of sorts during the latter half of that playoffs. But then Bogut goes down in Game 5 and Iguodala suffers back spasms the rest of the series as well. Everything had to go wrong and Cleveland needed an assist from the NBA and even the refs in Game 6 (where Steph showed some signs of life and then was instantly put into foul trouble) to just barely win. Otherwise, the Warriors win in 5 and all the talk of Golden State being invincible and fate being so unfair to LeBron happens even without KD.
