Both of them sound perfect to me. And both of them are running Sonor drums with Evans drumheads (not 100% sure about Gavin's drumheads, but I think they are Evans as well) For a different kind of unique tom sounds I usually go with Dana Carrey

Wow, watching Chris Coleman again. I had the great privilege to attend this great Drumeo Festival this past February in Vancouver B.C. Canada. I was 4 rows from the center of the stage. Chris was the first performer on day 1 and all I can say is HOLY COW. This man totally blew my mind and set bar so high for the rest of the performers with his performance. He is also a very humble man. Everything about his stage presence and of course his incredible gifted playing stuck with me all weekend. This was the best music experience of my life and I was so sad when it was over. Rock On Drumeo..................
@stevenizanagi52794 жыл бұрын
You bet he did. Just knowing that he was the one to had performed first, means all the pressure has been set for the next performers. Just the mere fact that Chris is the one open up the event means they know things were more real than the event it self. They knew it was no joke and it cannot be taken lightly.

Chris is one of my favorite drummers ever for all the reasons everybody knows...incredible chops, amazing musicality, unmatched innovation, etc. But this video highlights probably the most important thing a drummer can master--the ability to let the music be the music!!! He lays down a pocket like no other that allows all the other incredible musicians and solos shine on their own terms without the threat of Chris hijacking their moment!!! No doubt he could have, but his decision was to respect the music and the goal of the composer to achieve the purpose of a complete experience for the listener and viewer. From one musician to another, much respect my brother!!!💯💥🔥🔥🔥

I recognized him right away and greeted him. He had a calming presence. He was a tired because he had been up all night recording and now he was about to go to another session!!!! I asked him if I could get him some sticks and he insisted on hot rods. He played super soft for about 10 minutes and went in his way. He was super chill and kind hearted. VALERIY STEPANOV BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!!!!! Americans, credit him at least... good playing, but credit that awesome mad Russian keyboardist, for god's sake. As a drummer, the music we play with inspire us leading feeling and ideas, making our playing conscious, giving our notes sense and context, driving our inspiration. So, as far as Music comes before chops, (and should lead chops), it's quite misleading not to mention the real composer, nor to say this is a cover. You can look at chops, but beyond that, this is music.

It's not mentioned in the credits. Indeed it's stepanov, nobody sounds like him.

That tune is by Valeriy Stepanov, “Breaking Away The Ground.” This same artist has some other good music, minus drums.
