Finally, someone on Chris level. Most interviewers are simply embarrassing and ask dumb questions that always seemed like a waste of Chris' time. This one was fun!

I remember watching this on TV when it came out, thinking that Chris looked and sounded great and seemed to be in a good place. I began to think of all the guys from the grunge era that had passed away and felt extremely grateful that Chris made it through. Little did I know he'd meet a similar fate a few years later :( He seemed like such a smart, polite and humble guy. May he rest in peace.

This was the best Jools Holland interview ever, but being a Chris Cornell fan perhaps I am biased. back in the 90's I NEARLY met Jools Holland. Not, meeting him was very depressing as I had just recorded a new 3-track demo (On Cassette) and I was sending them all over the place, then quite by chance my mate ran to my house and said Jools Holland is in the village (West Haddon Northamptonshire), he was either lost and had broken down or both as my mate said that he had a map spread on the bonnet of a MKII jag and was eating a snack probably bought from the village shop opposite where he was parked. THIS WAS IT... this was the perfect opportunity. So Grabbing one of my tapes I RACED to the shop..... but the lady at the shop said I had JUST missed him. In my mind, I fixed his Jag, gave him directions back to the M1 Motorway, had a steak & Ale pie at the pub, then because we were now such great mates I was invited to play on his show and I should by rights be typing to you now from my boat moored at Cannes. I am still writing music, and still trying over 25 years later... Though women, life and illness did get in the way for almost 10 years of this story. This is it... 2018 is my year I can feel it. Keep on rocking people. 🚀🎹🎸🎤

I've listened to Chris' music since the mid 90s and this is the first interview I've seen of his. The first time I've heard him speak. That's mental in itself and no I have no idea what I've been doing for 30 years but I concede the shame of it! What got me was the way jools said have a sniff of that and Chris didn't even pretend to smell it. Like his rehab reaction kicked in and he just wanted nothing to do with it. Also what a beautiful man he was. Thanks for the poetry man 🖤

I wonder if Chris was being honest about wanting to be good enough and hoping the best band in the world wanted him or just saying what was expected or something to boost kids watching him to be better cos his songwriting was probably the best of the grunge era it was poetry and from the deepest part of his heart. He was the superband.

There's another, more serious KZbin video from about 2006 where Chris says exactly the same thing, so I'm pretty sure it's true.
