I love Chris's technical vocal skills, his tone, his emotion, and his soul, but saying "NO ONE" sings like him anymore is just factually incorrect. This is the baseless type of statement you'd expect to here from a naively loyal, blindly biased fan. It is a disingenuous, emotionally based statement, not backed up by fact. Regardless of how much you or I love Chris, off course there are other people who sing like him, and just as good as him. I'm not making an equivalent... That's not the point of my suggestion, as a somewhat unrelated issue, listen to Chris Stapleton's "I was Wrong", and/or "Tennessee Whiskey".

What's is wrong with just saying, wow, what a wonderful performance? Without having to take away from it by pointing out that Prince wrote the song? Everyone knows that Prince wrote the song... Everyone knows that Prince was a great singer/songwriter/musician, but even he didn't write all of his songs. Prince's greatness, as great as it may be, is a different discussion. I know you may be emotionally attached to Prince, but believe me, it's ok to just simply say, "Chris did a great job". Tina Turner's song "Proud Mary" was great too, but should we diminish her rendition of the song by bringing it to everyone's attention that Creedence Clearwater Revival wrote the song, and wrote the melody, and perhaps even did a better version than she did? Prince is great in his own right, but that is a completely different subject. This subject is about this specific video, about Chris Cornell's version of this song. Try to control your personal emotional fanaticism toward a specific artist.

Love seeing people experience him for the first time. I’m a little jealous, I wish I could hear it all again for the first time, he truly is a once in a generation talent. First time I heard this cover was the day he died. Gives me chills every time i hear it. Hope to see you react to more of him, you won’t regret diving into it. I recommend “Call me a dog”. Subscribed.

I love Chris Cornell. When I heard he took his own life I cried and felt that hole in my soul immediately. He was in a band Sound Garden and Audioslave. Thanks for playing this. 💔

Cris Cornell was the lead singer of the rock band Sound Garden. He will go down as one of the greatest voices in rock history. He was also a very tortured sole. He battled a lot of depression throughout his life. On May 17, 2017, he lost his battle with depression when he unfortunately hung himself. Two months later, on July 20, his close friend Chester Bennington did the same. Chester was the lead singer of Lincoln Park. I don't know if you were aware of this information or not, but this was a little back story just in case you didn't already know. I mentioned both singers because you really can't tell one story without the other. You should react to Chester's performance of his song One More Light. He did a live performance of the song as a tribute to Chris.

I was 16 and we had "Community dances" on our reservation. It's the only way we could hear all the new music coming out. Sinead O'connor sang it and it reminds me if alot if heartache and heartbreak from both sides of "teenage relationships" lol I had Alot for a young teen. Very beautiful song ❤ #nostalgia

Try "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog, then "Show Me How to Live" or "Cochise" by Audioslave, then "Fell on Black Days" by Soundgarden. Chris Cornell was one of the greatest voices in Rock history. These are some bands he played with that show how dynamic he was. He is a legend. I always tell myself"Don't be sad he is gone, just be happy he was here" when thinking about his death.

Love your channel. I'm an empath too...from Boston. Just wanted to make sure you knew Sinead O'Connor made this song famous in the early 90's, but this is my first time hearing this version. Wow. His voice isn't comparable...the raw resonance. Crazy.

Through and through I think Down on the upside is Soundgarden’s best- BHS is their most popular imo Beatlesesque song but not their best by far... again imo I think Chris was turning into a real crooner... like Johnny Mathis check out Misery Chain on Letterman Even though I never knew him I loved him like a brother and cried like a baby for months after he died rip

. I mean opinion is opinion can't knock either. Yeah still don't think his death was a suicide to this very day. I don't believe Chester's death was either. I actually believe Chester was looking into his parents lineage sinse he was an orphan and found some shit he was not supposed to

This has and always will be a powerful song, but Chris' raspy and guttural voice just hits all the feels so much more. Nothing but respect to Prince as these are his lyrics, but I don't know how or if this song should ever be attempted by another individual after the late, great Chris Cornell. Like you said, "EFFORTLESS"Absolutely LOVED your reaction to this!

Hey I have a question, what made you decide to react to this? Was it something someone suggested? The reason I ask is because this is sort of an odd introduction to him. This is Chris Cornell doing a Prince cover in 2016. His career began in the 80’s and he has a lot of hit songs from the bands he was in. I’ll give you a little brief, straightforward bit of information - He was the lead singer of Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog, and Audioslave. Soundgarden was his primary band. Temple Of The Dog was a one-time group he took part in in 1990 as a tribute to the late Andrew Wood who was his friend and the lead singer of a band that was important around the time Grunge music was developing. Audioslave was a supergroup he was in during the 00’s when Soundgarden wasn’t active. I think it makes a lot more sense to listen to the classic work he’s done in his bands before hearing a modern day solo cover. Hunger Strike by Temple Of The Dog, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, or Like A Stone by Audioslave - each of those are like the biggest ones from each band he took part in. They’re all great songs, I’d suggest them. Especially Hunger Strike since it does a good job showing his vocal range from low to high. Unfortunately Chris killed himself in 2017. As a fan I was devastated. I was in tears for days because of that. By the way, I hope this doesn’t sound like criticism because I enjoyed this reaction and it was really cool to see the appreciation you had for his voice. He was a great vocalist, especially in his prime.
