Why do people feel the need to be hateful in comments? All of these guys from the 90's ... Staley, James Keenan, Cornell, Vedder, Patton, Weiland, Moreno, Yorke, Reznor ... we were so spoiled with excellence. Just listen and love it. Who cares who is singing it and if it's "different than Layne's version"? I'm sure if Layne were there he'd be nodding with his sunglasses on from the crowd.
@SneharthoDey
@SneharthoDey 8 жыл бұрын
Very well said. They were all a family that revolutionised the 90s with their excellence. But these stupid pricks without even understanding their bond and the feelings of respect they had for each other try to compare and demean one another. pathetic.

Alki46D I understand exactly what you're talking about and people really shouldn't compare Cornell to Staley at all for this performance. Layne would have been very honored that Cornell performed this song for remembrance to honor him and Chris did a beautiful job in doing that here.

I was hoping to see Chris tour with mad season. I thought it was the greatest idea to have Chris play with mad season! There was no musician that could pull it off except Layne's old pal Chris! He was so talented and had the greatest lead singer voice! I never had a chance to see you in concert with Soundgarden, audio slave, Temple of the dog or just you solo accousticly & I'm sad that I will never. you'll be forever missed Chris! God bless your beautiful family! Rest easy Chris! say hello to heaven.

Lyrics: My pain is self-chosen At least, so the prophet says I could either burn Or cut off my pride and buy some time A head full of lies is the weight, tied to my waist The river of deceit pulls down, oh oh The only direction we flow is down Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down My pain is self-chosen At least I believe it to be I could either drown Or pull off my skin and swim to shore Now I can grow a beautiful shell for all to see The river of deceit pulls down, yeah The only direction we flow is down Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down The pain is self-chosen, yeah Our pain is self-chosen Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down Down, oh down

Chris's high notes. Layne's roaring vocal Frye along with his weird pronunciation of the letter r(lol) Kurt's lyricism and also unique vocal frye, and Eddie's ability to put these things together cemented a legacy of music that could never be duplicated in any other era. That is why this s music was truly great.

Luv this..never forgot about Chris Cornells comments regarding Layne Staley when their friend Andrew Wood I think his name was died. From Mother Love Bone? Layne was inconsolable one night sobbing on his hands and knees, childlike Chris said. and no one went to comfort or console him including Chris and he always thought about and regretted that. Man I love his voice. I love Layne Staley's even more

Chris Cornell is the rock Singer songwriter of my generation. A master lyricist and musician. Metaphorical. Thoughtful. Staley is a good singer. I only liked a couple of the songs that he wrote. Cantrell was the genius behind Alice in Chains.

+Peanutbutter jellyfish (nofrownonme) you do know Layne wrote about 50% of the aic songs right?!?! Man in the box, angry chair, love hate love, nutshell, and I could go on... I love Jerry Cantrell as much as you do and I agree he's a fucking genius but he was not the reason for the greatness of aic... Without Layne Staley we wouldn't know who Jerry Cantrell is unfortunately (and I bought both his solo albums when they came out)

Layne wrote lyrics. the music was all Cantrell. That said, the band should have ended with Layne's death. the magic those two managed together can't be replicated. Jerry tried doing his own thing but it didn't make money.

Chris pays tribute to Layne, plain and simple,those two guys actually had the same voice coach, first Chris then Layne.They sound nothing alike, but they both have the same style,from the pit of they're stomach,on up to the roof of their mouths.They both gave their all and that's what made them great.I know as long as I'm here,I'll be listening,cause I'm addicted and I love them both.RIP Chris and Layne.
