I was hoping to see Chris tour with mad season. I thought it was the greatest idea to have Chris play with mad season! There was no musician that could pull it off except Layne's old pal Chris! Layne's roaring vocal Frye along with his weird pronunciation of the letter r(lol) Kurt's lyricism and also unique vocal frye, and Eddie's ability to put these things together cemented a legacy of music that could never be duplicated in any other era. Chris Cornell is the rock Singer songwriter of my generation. A master lyricist and musician. Metaphorical. Thoughtful. Staley is a good singer. I only liked a couple of the songs that he wrote. Cantrell was the genius behind Alice in Chains.

Layne wrote lyrics. the music was all Cantrell. That said, the band should have ended with Layne's death. the magic those two managed together can't be replicated. Jerry tried doing his own thing but it didn't make money.
