"Scream" is just another example of an artist doing something new, and the average old school fan blasting them because they aren't putting out the same stuff they have put out for the last 10 albums. I hate it when music fans constanly try to keep an artist in a well defined predictable box! It shows how simple minded they are. If anyone else had come out with this music, then it would have been accepted & embraced.. but Chris Cornell? "He shouldn't sound like this!" That is so stupid to think!

Man, the voices that came out of that Seattle movement: Cornell, Staley, Cobain, Vedder, Kevin Martin, they were/are all phenomenal singers. They each had different strengths and weaknesses but they were all great.
@merlepatterson2 жыл бұрын
You missed a few: Ann & Nancy Wilson - Heart Mark Lanegan - Screaming Trees Geoff Tate - Queensryche Jimmy Hendrix - Jimmy Hendrix Experience Kevin Martin - Candlebox Ben McMillan - Gruntruck ...plus many many more
@kevinbillingsley82562 жыл бұрын
@@merlepatterson Well, I did have Kevin Martin. But I meant just that movement, the early 1990's 'grunge' scene. Pop had lost is flair, no more Frank and Dean. It was boy bands and teeny boppers with their bland, highly trained church choir voices or metal with their screamers and grunters. But the grunge movement bucked those trends and brought back real rock singers, voices with style and substance. The 90s were as good for music as the 80s were bad for it.
@merlepatterson2 жыл бұрын
@@kevinbillingsley8256 Yes, you did mention Kevin. There was also the Posies and the Melvins who came out around the same time frame as the grunge scene was growing.

That's why I no longer believe in bands... only albums. In my mind it frees up the artist to do whatever he wants, and I'm free to like it or not like it, but not to tell him he is wrong! People are so afraid to NOT like what an artist does if they have liked them for so long, because they then believe that some how they have been wrong all this time for ever liking them to begin with... Not so. It's called freedom... learn it... live it... love it!!
