I'm so amazed by how Chris Cornell kind of screams "You Know My Name" at the end of the song. His vocal capabilities were so amazing. He sounds like a certified rockstar. R.I.P. Mr. Cornell.

Film Version is best! That theme is one of the best ever made for a Bond film and thankfully it is one of the best Bond films ever.

I like the Album Version best, his vocals are forefront and clear even though the orchestra is easy to hear. His vocal range always amazed me. RIP Chris you are sorely missed.

I like the album version, the film version has a very soft beat during the chorus which you can barely hear, the album version has the best beat and has that weight that the song needs which makes it that much more epic

I think the film version is biased more to the bass and less snare/cymbals. It will depend what system you are listening on but the film version can be thunderous.

Arguably more a rock composition than any other bond theme , ( possible exceprion a view to a kill possibly ) Cornells perceptive lyrics and wonderful vocal performance combine in an apt launchpad for 007 in what became the spectacular Daniel Craig franchise reboot

Single version ALL THE WAY. It has a killer guitar, a “bondy arpeggio”, perfect. The movie version is also great, but unfortunately it isn’t complete.
@fiercedragon06102 жыл бұрын
Arpeggio, ha, in the middle of the song did u hear that metal sound, like two swords thrash or strike each others, i wonder how to create it, may be play an electric guitar with a cello bow (both had Amandatium strings lol) some rock guitarists did before: Jimmy Page etc. but they cant create the same sound. Just some bs, im not a musician. Also that rock n raw vocal wasnt overpowered by a ridiculous orchestra, Chris didnt know how great he was, he was a humble man, despite what ppl think abt a rock star.

When I think of this song, the version that comes to my mind first would be the film version. The orchestral additions made it something else. The album version is also great; I actually like the acoustics on verse one. The single version has to be my least favorite, sadly; the vocals here, while much more raw, just don't resonate with me the way the single/film take does.

The film version is the best one in my opinion, the album version seems to have the voice of the film version but then the instruments of the single version.

I am puzzled. I always thought there was a 'pop mix' version as well. With either a different hi hat almost with paradiddle arrangement on chorus, or a tambourine was used.Or did I imagine all this?? Great chord structure.Perfect for Bond!! Still love the film version the best with the heavy orchestra arrangement. Thanks for posting these 3 together.
@alexdamaceno2 жыл бұрын
According to Wikipedia, the “Pop Mix” version is the album one (and also featured in the music video). Since the single isn’t available in Brazil’s Spotify, can’t know for sure. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Know_My_Name#Release
@alexdamaceno2 жыл бұрын
Used some “old magic” and the information on Wikipedia is correct: the “Pop Version” is the same featured in “Carry On” and the music video. The main version on the single is the “Rock Version”. And this “Orchestral Version” is exclusive to the movie.

Anyone happens to know if the film version was ever released on disc at all? Depending on how you interpret the Wikipedia article about this song it *might* be present on the 2008 'Best of Bond' compilation- I don't have that set, but I do have the 2012 version, and that one contains the single version, not the film version.

@jaydenfulton90262 жыл бұрын
So for me the Film Version will always be amazing but i think each version has something unique so for the First Version it's the use of the raw vocals, Second Version the instruments used within and the Third Version that truly just makes it absolutely amazing the mixture of both of them is there and present but I think if all 3 were mixed together maybe something unique would be there......

My favorite is the film version. Love the way the vocals sound and the instrumental is the best of the three imo My least favorite is prolly the single or "rock" version, I don't like Chris' vocals here as much. Instruments are alright I guess but it just lacks the oomph of the other two imho. Also, this may be kind of a silly complaint, but him changing the lyrics to "I've seen this diamond through harder men" to "I've seen diamonds cut through harder men" between versions has always annoyed me. Tho I guess it kinda makes a neat reference to Die Another Day with Zhao.

It is a shame that this song was never nominated for an Oscar and what a travesty that Melissa Etheridge won for a forgettable song for “an inconvenient truth” (yep! Look that up! What a shame and true crime) it would have been amazing if not a true awesomeness if we have gotten a true swept by Chris on all song awards for this amazing song! Glad he won the Saturn, but he was nominated for Grammy but really?? Dreamgirls?? Who remembers that? But everyone remembers this amazing song from one of the top films from Daniel Craig’s bond films!

Personally don’t like the single version. The raw vocals just don’t hit it for me. That’s just me. Like the album version the most. Not that I don’t like the hi hits but there’s something about that acoustic during the verse that’s so satisfying to me
@erinburke97112 ай бұрын
Agree the single version sounds like a demo vocal-wise. I don't understand why there can't just be one version. Just like the video version of Fell On Black Days. He doesn't seem to have the control to repeat the same cadence twice. It's different every time he sings a line.
